Title: Are all 0603 leds the same size ?

I just got 50 of them from ebay and they can baically only be seen using a scanning electron microscope set on 50,0000000 times magnification.
They measure 1.6mm long(about the size of an eye booger).

I can barely see them even under a magnifying glass.
I was suprised at how small they are even compared to the power led on the psp(1.6mm vs 2.5mm)

Are your 0603 led the same size as the power led or smaller.

Now I know why I bought 50 of them.
I am going to loose 24 and destroy about 20 trying to solder them.

The number indicates the size of the LED, 0603 tells you it's 0.06"x0.03" big. a 1206 would be 0.12"x0.06.

Now the Power LED is a double-LED, why do you think it can generate two colors...it's basicly two LEDs in one housing, that's why it's also bigger.

Oh and if you can't even see it under a magnifying glass you should uhm...get one that doesn't just do 2x but 4x, making it even bigger...

omg its not that bad, i dont use any magnyfying glass while soldering 0603 and i managed to solder it week after i first held soldering iron in my hand
got a tip for you, use a strong double sided tape and stick the led there so it doesnt get stuck on your tip while soldering, works great for me

yes 0603 is a standard size and any component you buy that is 0603 will be about the same size

LOL i just recieved 10 0603 leds from my supplier.. i was amazed at the size.. but but.. question, my solder is one of those fat solder, 25w cant burn it at the tip.. whats the smallest size solder i need?

Use 0.032" solder or smaller.
