no i dont have anything new to show yet. (something is in the works) i just want to know has any one been working with my favorite form of lighting recently? if so lets see, im in the mood for some EL!
-
i want to buy some EL, but its expensive in comparison to LEDs. might do it after trigger mod
-
its not that expensive at about .75 to 2.00 a foot. the inverters can be kinda price but there not to bad
-
id do it but i have no id3ea where to get the inverter ad what to get
lol
talk to me on msn when ur on
-
i should be doing trigger mod soon, phen's power board has arrived and my 1206 LEDs have too. I have 10 Ohm resistors too :hifive:

huh? EL Trigger?
-
i was elaborating on my trigger mod, sorry for the confusion.
-
many reasons why i havent, one, because i suck at modding, two, not sure where to get it from and thrid, dunno how it works
but if i were to fix all of the problems, then, yeah ill probaly do it
-
i got a new psp and am so keen for sum el-wire action but i have a few problems
-dont know where to pick up a invertor small enough
-does it require the removale of UMD?
-what did you use to sucure it inside the case?
-
all of your EL can be bought at http://www.coolight.com/ (http://www.coolight.com/) they also carry the small inverter i used for my mod.
as for how it works
simple: answer it works like a capacitor.
in depth: one wire is covered with a phosphorescent material a another wire is run on the out side of it and it is all incased in a plastic sheath. when a high frequency AC current is passed over it the phosphor lights up. the high frequency AC current comes form the inverter. a DC current is fed in to it and a high freq. AC current comes out.
no it dose not require the removal of the UMD drive
and i used hot glue to affix it in my case.
-
its not really any different, AFAIK, apart from that you hook up an inverter to some wire.
-
florescent lights function in much the same way, but insted of a solid (EL) the light up a gas
-
i wonder if i could find cold cathodes small enough? :boxed:
-
for a psp? no for a phat PS2 yes
-
hmmmm... imma research this :P
-
so if i hook up some coollight red angel hair el wire to one of these invertors http://www.coolight.com/product-p/isw-3475.htm (http://www.coolight.com/product-p/isw-3475.htm) where on the mobo will i solder to if im already using powerboard for leds. Do i mount it under wifi board?
-
mount the wire where you want :victory:

mount the wire where you want :victory:
no but where to mount the invertor?
-
its not going to happen with that inverter, its huge
you would want this one
http://www.coolight.com/product-p/cl-imc-1.5ft.htm (http://www.coolight.com/product-p/cl-imc-1.5ft.htm)
as for hooking it up,

sweet ok im set, so this will work with the angel wire gud. so all i need to do is hook this up to the psp no resistor or nefing and it will work?

I carry the driver too, at the suggestion of someone here at Acidmods:
http://www.neonstring.com/cart/product_info.php?products_id=133&osCsid=51264bbba66a3a1bbe3fdbd643cdffec (http://www.neonstring.com/cart/product_info.php?products_id=133&osCsid=51264bbba66a3a1bbe3fdbd643cdffec)
I charge more for it, but if you factor the shipping...
Also, if anyone needs an instructional on soldering EL wire, I did an illustrated how-to here:
http://www.neonstring.com/How_to_solder_EL_Wire/How_to_Solder_EL_Wire.html (http://www.neonstring.com/How_to_solder_EL_Wire/How_to_Solder_EL_Wire.html)
