its not the most powerful thing (only a geforce 8400) but its HELLS faster than my moms old system, which this is to replace...
the 22" monitor is baller too

EDIT: after diggin up the processor at the bottom of the box, its quit clear that OEM means NOTHING but the thing...so i still need a heatsink, should be on order soon, i shot an email towards the buyer
-
yep, OEM is just a cPU.
still wont be as fast as your MBP though.
-
i know, its for my mom, and it kicks her current one's ass by a LONGSHOT
xp
asus mobo
2.8ghz dual core amd processor
2 gb corsair ram
550 watt supply
geforce 8400 512mb
320 gig hard drive
dvd burner
...did i forget anything...
-
ehh AMD?? I would have gone Intel just for future upgrades but good choice nonetheless, anyways save up and buy a 9800!! and it will wreck any game (except crysis)
Oh yeah, are you gonna overclock at all?
-
since its for someone else and not for gaming (at all)
no overclocking
i built amd in the past, its fine, i like it
-
processors are truly a thing of personal opinion and what your going to use it for.
as for the 9800, its fairly over rated a nice 8800 will beat the pants off of it but you have to be willing to spend the money.
oh i love your motherboard, its the same one im using and i love love it.

orly? neat! :D glad i got a good one! figured it worked well, i've heard good stuff about it
as for the 9800and 8800 yeah..if today i were alloted 1600 for a gaming rig i would go with an 8800

If someone gave me 1600 I would go with dual 9800's Quad SLI > Dual SLI
Also, what was your total cost?
-
the buss speeds on the 9800 aren't even close to the 8800.
and yes that asus board rocks. i <3 it. thats right i use grater than 3 to explain my fondness for my GPU
my rig with out monitors is siting around $2000 and thats only one graphics card

Where did you get your parts? seems kind of expensive. Also, which monitor did you get, I'm thinking about getting a 22inch acer from newegg thats on sale...
-
all newegg
-
I recomend tiger direct and I used to use zip zoom fly i am not sure if they are still around but i have had nothing but good experiences with tiger direct.
-
nothing wrong with newegg and in the case of that mobo its about $30 cheaper off of newegg vs. in store
-
What did you pay for the monitor. theres one on sale (Acer) for 230 shipped, did you get it on sale?
-
i'll check the box's manifest (hehee..i said manifest..)
there..yeah its the 230 one..
and i just looked at the ram..damn! ram looks nice nowadays
