I don't get it! I bought a brand new joystick trying to fix it. The joystick feels like it doesn't even work, like for example I tried to counter the bottom right movement by moving the joystick up left but it doesn't do anything, however when I counter up by pressing up left on the d-pad I will go straight.
Acidmods PLEASE HELP ME! I'm getting ready to sell it for parts. :[

Solder wires from the gold pads on the MoBo to the one on the Analog stick.

Is there a tutorial on this? Or atleast Any Tips? I have a 15w soldering iron, 24AWG and 30awg wire which should I use? I also have 60/40 rosin core solder. Is that a good type for psps?

No tut. It's pretty simple.... Explain what you don't understand please. Use 30awg. i use really small solder, don't know size off the top of my head.

Okay so should I worry about overheating the gold psp & joystick pads?
This is what I'm gonna do:
Apply solder
remove iron, let cool
repeat for all eight pads
reheat first pad
apply wire
heat together for a sec
remove iron, let cool
repeat for seven remaining
that work for psps?

I recommend you try adjusting the fit of your analog nub against the mobo contacts before you solder the connections. You may be able to fix the problem with a little wiggling/tightening/adjusting.
- #1: Check the little jelly strip that sits between the nub and mobo to ensure that it is clean and oriented correctly.
- #2: Check your analog nub to ensure that it is screwed in place correctly to your faceplate.
- #3: Try tightening the screws on the faceplate or putting pressure on it with your hand to see if anything changes.
- #4: If nothing else is working, try removing the nub from the faceplate and holding it against the contacts with your fingers. Try manually positioning it and pressing it against the contacts until you can get it to function.
- #5: If all else fails, then try soldering the connections.
It is very easy to lift the copper contact pads right off the mobo when trying to solder to them, and things can quickly get messier from there if you aren't experienced with soldering. You can always solder your wires to the points underneath the copper pads, but once you do this it is not easy to reverse it.

The best thing to do

I did what Blizzrad said to do, I got it to stop going right but it still goes down. :[ I WAS SOO CLOSE
When I open the browser I can tell the most cus the cusor goes STRAIGHT down. nothing I can do to reverse it either the whole joystick feels useless.
I saw the little jelly strip on the mobo, I guess that's where the mobo's gold pads are. Honestly, that's wayyyy too tough for me to try and solder. I think I'm going to just sell it. IT's got a clear faceplate with NO scratches seeing as I just got trying to fix this joystick problem, a new white color joystick, and all silver buttons, charger, box, ATV, etc. if anyone is interested.

i will give u 40usd pm and we can talk
-
no thnx I bought it for 130
-
why dont u just get another analog stick
or if u have an old ps2 controller u could wire it to the psp analog it dont look to great but it works ive done it. also its pretty easy
-
tutorial, link, pictures, youtube video? I'm pretty new here, how do you do that? is it gonna be harder than the first idea?
I do have an old broken ps2 controller I can gut the analog from.
-
its real easy ill find ya one
you are gonna have to make a small hole in the faceplate
or do the USB charge mod "easy 1 wire" but u have to take the motherboard out to do it, if u do usb mod u can take out the old charging plug "yellow thing" and run wires out the hole
