-
ok first issue
build is complete
it powers on, i have the video card plugged in, and my monitor pluggs into it fine
when i get to the bios (as im not setting up the os yet), i dont have a keyboard or mouse in, so w/e, ill borrow one later
but i get an error thing saying that my cpu fan isnt on or is to slow....its on..and seems like its going really fast
i reset the cmos (who knows, that could've worked right?) no dice
it seems fine...should i forgo this as i minor error to read the hardware? or what,
ideas, comments, help plz n' thx
-
if you can bypass it it should be fine after all it is working. if it starts to rev really high thinking it need sot be cooler then you may have a problem but as long as it's doing its job I dont see what could go wrong........
-
it is doing its job....and i can bypass it, f1 for setup, tab for .somthing else, i cant remember...
-
try and change the battery for the cmos, i had a dumb problem like that, make sure the cpu fan is connected to the cpu pin, they have a designated one right next to the cpu some of the problems can be stupid, but they are there for a reason, Good luck, add me on xfire, i can help u trouble shoot(1terrorist1)

i owe you pal...dont have xfire, but the problem is solved
it had to be plugged into a plug halfway across the board...and it was labeled cpu, but i was thrown off because
1) it had 4 prongs instead of 3 (has an extra for...somthing)
2) it was farther from the fan..wasnt labeled too clearly :/
3) closer one had "chip fan"..i figured chip as in the processor...
silly me
thanks a lot! fixed it, no more error

no problem, ur welcolme to add me on aim aswell pimpinswede919, im bored out of my mind and wanna help people

ok, im doing my second boot
first was 'unsucessful' because it said there was no hard drive....i looked inside and the power was half unplugged...probably happened when i was organizing the wires
anyways im doing my second boot and installing xp
as some of you may know, this is my first solo project (second project total, i did a group one) and i am very excited and happy :D
i have one question
i bought a 'hush' case to keep it quiet
but the main cpu heatsink fan is really loud still...infact this comp is much louder than my mom's current one (a crappy old dell POS)
ideas to make it quieter? or deal wit it?
thx again :D

Liquid cooling FTW! Uhmm which heatsink are you using? If its one that came with the processor there are better and quieter ones that you can buy

cant do liquid cooling at this point..
im using i guess what's called the standard ASUS one, though it technically didnt come with the cpu as i bought the cpu OEM
-
I've found my gaming case is extremely quiet, in fact the only fan that even runs (runs on law at that) is the air intake (blows air into the case from the side)
-
ok can someone recommend a good and quiet heatsink & fan combo? newegg is preffered plz&thx :D
-
Here try this, the comments are good and at only 16.99$ you might like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200023 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200023)

kthx :D

Np, there are cheaper ones that i looked at but they look like crap compared to that.
-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106103 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106103)
it looks kwl and has a big ass 120mm fan with a rap around heatsink looks like it could do some good heat disapation
-
:o duno it it'll fit
-
I would get this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134) It is very quiet and cools very well. And you can adjust the speed through speedfan.
-
thx but already got the one that aziz1 suggested
when i get it, i just need to install that one, fix the wiring for the front side headphone and microphone jacks, and get paid $100 :D
first thing im getting is this http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/3616&cl=us,en (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/3616&cl=us,en)
it says its for ps3, but i've read around and its computer compatible, which is nice because i need it for my lappy and the old dell POS im inheriting soon

i have a keyboard just like that for my cpu... it came with it... made by vaio... the spacebar sticks i dont know why? i have taken the spacebar apart and tried to fix it but overall i have loved it.
-
im getting it because
1 its standalone, no mouse w/ it (i have a mouse already)
2 it has a built in trackpad which is the s**t (like the kayboard that comes with the dell xps one)
3 i need a gaming keyboard (though its not made for it, i need one, i dont wanna abuse my mpb when some noob one-shot-kills me with a grenade launcher for the 10th time)
3 its less expensive than the dinovo...160 for a wireless build in trackpad thing is a bit much...i mean logitech rocks, srsly, but thats a lot for me... this is 60 on newegg
4 im getting a ps3 soon so its perfect
5 i have confirmed its PC compatability (as it was made for ps3)
6 its logitech....srsly that alone is reason to get it...
7 its sleeknshmexy with that gloss black stuff (matching the ps3)
only bad things ive heard is that its a bit flimsy, has no windows key (forthe pc users) and the media keys dont work in wmp (as it was made for ps3 media stuff)
all of which, i'd like to know, i dont care about...this is too good to pass up
-
i dont know why any one else hasn't said this, but WE WANT PICS!!
lol kidding, but i would be fun to see what you have.
