although the two model screens are almost exactly alike, they are constructed differently. When Sony made the PSP-2000 (slim and lite) screen, they used the same general design of the LCD, but used the minimal, most compact construction of both the overall thickness of the liquid crystals (the actual screen) and the back light unit, thus making the whole overall thickness of the LCD unit less. When Sony redesigned the Mobo, they placed the back light and screen ribbon clamps in different locations than that of the PSP-1000 models, whether this was done because of space restraints or just as an easy way of differentiating between PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 model parts, is beyond my knowledge. If you could mannage to connect the ribon of the PSP-1000 model to the PSP-2000 model mobo, and get the case closed, you could use it, but the chances of it are highly unlikely.
