what exactly is a magic memory stick and what does it do and does a sony or a sandisk 4 GB or 8 GB memory stick work to become one
-
Well the pandora battery gets it into recovery mode. then to downgrade the "magic" memory stick hold all the eboots and flash file to install custom firmware or unbrick. With out it u cant downgrade.
And i am pretty sure u cant do it with a memory card over 2gig. but give it a try.
-
do you have to have the magic mem. stick in the whole time whenever you use the psp with cfw or can you have another one in the psp thats not a magic mem. stick anytime
-
could someone please answer this question
-
I think the early 4GB sticks are the only working ones that can become magic, 8GB and above are certaintly not going to work.
Also u can have the stick in their whenever u want as long as the Pandora battery isn't in ur PSP, cuz it will keep throwing u into the Unbricking menu
-
no after you are done you can take the magic out and your done:) you can use any memory card then
-
so also i should buy an extra battery thats not a pandora and if so does the pandora battery have 2 stay in the psp when u use cfw or can i change it anytime i want
-
Dude, you only use a pandora battery when you are changing the firmware. pandora puts the psp in service mode to change the firmware. you don't need to use it when you want to play a game or music, only for changing the firmware or downgrading. get another battery so you have one to play games and stuff and one to downgrade the psp. really handy to have.
-
but u would have 2 use it unbrick a psp and 2 select no umd mode right

You use it to unbrick a PSP and change Firmware ect. You don't need it to select No-UMD mode that can be done in most Custom Firmware's
-
okay answer this for me please i know that the mag. mem. stick holds all ur flash 1 or o files or whatever so can you put the folder iso when you want 2 create a backup of your game (im talking legal her) could u put it on a non mag. mem. stick along with the other files for custom firmware and just use the mag. mem stick whenever u need 2 use it
-
Yes you can use a non Magic Memory stick on your PSP after but you cant use a non magic memory stick with Pandora's battery in, you have to use a different battery.
-
so whats the least i should get 4 a mag. mem. stick to just fit all the files on it when it turns into mag. mem. stick a 1GB or less
-
64MB or more should do it. I don't see any places selling them, so 256 or 512 may be your smallest available. Those can be bought fairly cheap now.
-
cool thanks for answering my question
-
Most 4GB sticks don't work and any above 4gb wont work at all
-
so vox could i use a 4GB non mag. mem. stick in a psp with custom firmware and put the iso folder on the 4GB non mms
-
yes u can use it, pandora doesn't affect ur PSP at all
-
so after you turn ur psp 2 cfw and make a mms and pandora battery u can take both of them out and replace them with any non mms and non pandora battery u want 2
-

exactly, or u can still use the MMS as normal and not mess up anything on it
-
cool do they make a 16GB memory stick pro duo (i think i heard something about that size)and if so does it work in a psp

yes 16GB is the biggest out right now and is also compatible with the PSP as well, but if ur willing to spend around $290 BIG ONES, i would say go for it, but they will drop in price after a year or so, so just wait for it like the rest of us, and certaintly after its price drop, other MS sticks will also be worth less, so just wait and see
-
how much would a 8GB mmpd cost
-
I can sell you my pandora + a 1gb magic memory stick for 40 + w/e shipping is.
Its a real OEM sony one that I softmodded.
Theres no point in buying a big memory stick for only pandora...
-
no not for pandora i was thinking of using either a 4GB or a 8GB for use when i will take out the pandora and mms and then just use the either 4GB or 8Gb for reguler use with the cfw so i could play my backup games in the mspd that is not a mms legally of course
-
how much would a 8GB mmpd cost
An 8gb would be around $84 for a Official Sony OEM one
-
what does oem mean
-
OEM = Original equipment manufacturer, basically what it means is that is is an official Sony memory stick and not a fake/copy
-Vox

so um would u want 2 use the battery that comes with the psp or psp bundle 2 turn it into a pandora or buy a new one
