Title: Quick Question on ps2 controller mod
Post by: Tri-edge on May 26, 2008, 10:15:07 PM
when I was connecting all the wires for the ps2 controller mod I noticed on Blizzrad's picture he has an L3 and a R3 pinout just above the analog sticks that I don't know what to do with.
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi303.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fnn142%2FBlizzrad%2FSCPH1200.jpg&hash=9abebaaca587555f73a3834ec62b1ae6e01ea52d)
I have all the other stuff soldered on the pins that the ribbon connects too, and the left analog stick.  All I have left to do is to desolder the right analog stick cut the traces and wire that up but if I don't think Blizzrad would just list them for no reason that's why I'm checking with you guys.

EDIT: Are they for the switches under the analog sticks?

Yeah, Folklord and Vox are right. The L3 and R3 buttons have no effect on how the analog stick functions for movement, they are just small tact switches stuck on the side which are closed when the analog stick is pressed in. You can ignore them or wire them for whatever functions you want, (R3 makes a good Home button).

I labeled the L3 and R3 points in the diagrams as just another reference point to relate them to the photo, and also to differentiate them from the ground pins directly below. Sorry if this was confusing, maybe I should go back back and edit that one.

no it okay I figured it out after looking at the board. I don't think I'm going to wire them.  I have however finished wiring the ps2 controller (it wasn't that hard) I'm thinking of selling it, because I don't want to open my psp until I have a backup
