I will be making my own website to comprehensively post how-to guides and modding / hacking information on consoles, once phase two of this project is completed. Phase 1 was making the system case controls and screen; Phase 2 is the N64 console hacking (then Phase 3 will be the second interchangeable console system with this project, SNES, then Phase 4 will be NES, then Megadrive, PS1, GameCube, etc, etc.
Phase 1 is done (including battery compartment making), Phase 2 is half completed.
Some posts at HERE (http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?p=291354#291354) but only a few "taster" pics and data (keeping the majority of information for my site).
Hoping I don't get cross-talk or interference on the wiring as before; this MKII system is so much better and sturdier than my previous attempt.

Looks great man you never fail to impress, Cant wait to see this when its completed.

Awesome, Looks hard but I believe you can do it. Keep us updated

Thanks! :w00t: Yes, it has proven to be intensive but it is taking shape nicely. I am looking forward to when I can crank the system on in its entirety and get on with some testing! I proved a couple weeks ago that the screen, headphone jack, speakers and composite video worked fine by playing a plug 'n' play system via the Scart line in; when the N64 electronics are switched on I can test the controls too!

You are doing very well as always.
I hope this summer that I work(pay off my ps3,dsl connection and some other stuff) to make
my portable ps2,that will save me lot's of time and headaches as I can play games before I sleep
in my bed just because I can't stand playing a game in front of my TV.
That's why I love portables. If I make it then I might finish most of my unfinished games.
I also plan to make it able to plug an external system to the battery and screen so it's gonna be like
a ps2 portable and if I want to, to add my wii or any other system and play.

I'm working on a few portables too but I don't put all my attention into them, so most of them don't get finished. But yours sounds good, I love portables

Thanks.
Portables for me have the following benefits:
* Play anywhere - including at work during quiet times (including some night shifts).
* At home, not being tied to using the main television.
* At home - saves lots of bulky systems and mountains of spaghetti wiring everywhere. Have more than two consoles in the lounge and it looks like a wiring nightmare - in contrast, a portable is very flexible.
* Impressive for others to see, a great project to do.
* Brings back to life old consoles.
* Encourages playing games more, especially as retro consoles and games are very cheap to buy.

Completed, website up too.
On the website you will see a very descriptive step-by-step guide for making an N64 portable. Other systems to follow.

Very nice!! I like the console swapping idea! It's very convenient!
In a few days I'll work again and probably make money for my portable. =)

Really like this handheld, I saw it on benheck a while ago. Nice to see you here too.
