nice to see u finished good job man i have a plan to adapt this mod slightly to shrink it as u told me the amp should work on any 2 8 ohm speakers well radioshack has sum 8 ohm speakers that are super loud and smaller then there and it will fit flush in the umd drive ill prob cut the whole door out and mount it all in a clear inclosere with simalar grate over it. but that is one moded psp

hey, new here,
was wondering if whether or not you know, if this would work with the mps-60 speakers, i have those, and i also have a lot of free time at the moment...
i'm just thinking, you know, they havent got the internal amps and if they don't sound louder and better than the originals...then why bother...

This has really excellent sound quality! It comes across so loud and clear, even in a YouTube video. It must sound amazing in person, very nice work.

If you could do this mod with a sub-woofer it would be sweet as!, propa shaking and all sorts
Title: Re: SuperSoundMod by MooToo
Post by: VoX on June 05, 2008, 07:08:02 AM
Sub-Woofer lol, That would end up wreaking the internals, not to mention the power draw

I ddint say a big one o_O...

Post by: VoX on June 05, 2008, 07:14:23 AM
The sub-woofer idea is cool, but useless at the same time, may as well spend your time getting rumble working for the PSP
Title: Re: SuperSoundMod by MooToo
Post by: IndyChav on June 05, 2008, 07:16:31 AM
the subwoofer would give a rumble element AND a sound increase, its WIN WIN

and here at AM we like our WIN :3
Title: Re: SuperSoundMod by MooToo
Post by: VoX on June 05, 2008, 07:21:13 AM
lol, Indy, I just wonder about the power draw. It seems like it would run the battery out faster, considerably

INDY i got a speaker like one of mootoos except it is bigger only one fits in the umd door i have tried connected it to the speaker ports and it shakes and is super loud and i don't even got a amp yet i am going to buy a pair of these speakers and hook up that amp to my speaker can't wait for the rumble

He probly wont right a tut because it is really self explanitory, you hook up the + or the new speakers to the + of the psp speakers the then the same witht he - of the new speakers and the - of the psp speakers.

Than just fit the speakers in the UMD door after youy dremmel out holes for them.

His also looks really good because he has that cage over the speakers.

it looks like green is left input yellow is right input and blue is gnd. U need take the signal from headphones jack but first U need  cutoff control contact from jack.

OK just disassemble speakers , it looks like this:
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg27.picoodle.com%2Fimg%2Fimg27%2F4%2F5%2F12%2Ff_repro1m_f95e6eb.jpg&hash=b28c398837d0dd983295c367deadd25d04a6c90f) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/5/12/f_repro1m_f95e6eb.jpg&srv=img27)

(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg27.picoodle.com%2Fimg%2Fimg27%2F4%2F5%2F12%2Ff_repro2m_60041be.jpg&hash=6f1688deea18cda5ac136086feaa96e07160acde) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/5/12/f_repro2m_60041be.jpg&srv=img27)

How to prepare dotherboard:
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg29.picoodle.com%2Fimg%2Fimg29%2F4%2F7%2F5%2Ft_Eterminalm_ece093f.jpg&hash=cf579a3d8e5600967660189b9cde6e44d307d4a9) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/5/f_Eterminalm_ece093f.jpg&srv=img29)

Now U need glue UMD doors on backplate and make some space for speakers and wiring.
Case prepared:
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg27.picoodle.com%2Fimg%2Fimg27%2F4%2F7%2F5%2Ft_casem_c818485.jpg&hash=2a3bfa694477779f57ef422e14cb94adf1e98127) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/5/f_casem_c818485.jpg&srv=img27)

Finaly conect speakers, dotherboard, battery(switch if U want to)
here is picture of conections :
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg33.picoodle.com%2Fimg%2Fimg33%2F4%2F7%2F5%2Ft_SSMODm_db0c389.jpg&hash=b2a33a8b8478a822fb76b40c3c0f1dfa2f75b26f) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/5/f_SSMODm_db0c389.jpg&srv=img33)
lol u need replace R with L input ,sorry

As U can see theres no more space for mobo support, and U need put some sealing tape under speakers ,cause they need to be little higher then they are in original cases.
Good Luck from MooToo :)

BTW: I hope U can understand my "high english"

well, your explanation is simple. too simple.
i've grabbed hold onto one of those MPS-70, but when i look at the circuit in there, there are 6 connections.  +, -, C, L, R, RA
im confused about the C and RA. what are they for?

So do these speakers have an inbuilt amplifier? And can you be a bit more specific in your mini tut.

yeah they do. notice that blue circuit board? its for both of the speakers. portable, small, yet practical. :yess: fits under the mem stick slot after a little trimming.
im still puzzled about the terminals on them. how to solder n what.

Oh right. Thats cool then I shall get me some of these. Did Mootoo connect them to the headphone jack? I would rather connect them to the speaker output. Does anyone know how to do that with these types of speakers/amp? Also when you put the wire to the battery terminal and you wire a dip switch to it. Does that mean when you turn it off the speakers turn off? Or just the amp?

i think it shuts down the amp from what i can gather. shuting down the speakers would still mean the amp is using power.

Nah I don't I'm afraid. I thought it would just be a matter of hooking the speakers up the the + and - on the mobo but after seeing this thread it seems different. I guess you could still do that but if you got a free amp with the speakers you might as well use it! ^^. Good luck man. remember: LOTS OF PICS! xD

actually i do have 2 amps. :victory: but their size is not really something good. need to solder them separately. plus the wires will be a mess. so im using this stock amp instead. just barely fits, and even better, without putting pressure on the backplate.

lol. yeah they do. but the quality is siicckkk man. but with the psp battery, i think we can squeeze some 2-4 hours of battery life with that on. :yess:
just installed them on my psp. but the exterior looks like :censored:. with misaligned plate n stuff.. going to my granma's in a few hours. guess i'll do something about the cosmetics when i got back.

I apologize for bringing this back from the dead. I have tried this mod with two different SE speaker sets:
MPS-70
MPS-60
And with both of them I find the speakers WAY too deep to mount on the UMD door. I cant even come close to closing the door with them there :( Maybe I am just getting bad speaker revisions?  please help

NVM!! lol I just watched the video again for the 100th or so time and just now realized that the speaker frame was mounted on to the UMD door. I would image that would provide the space needed  :P

Just mounted it and slathered it with some bondo, then off to the paint booth after 23 days of sanding :) will post up pics when it is done.
