Title: 5v Spot on powerboard?
Post by: psp339 on June 04, 2008, 02:00:23 PM
Is there a 5v spot on a powerboard of the slim? If so, can that be used for the sound mod instead of the activity LEDs power sources. Last time I soldered to the power source of the memory stick LED, the LED stopped working.

Guys that image is so old. I think from the time I first started using a meter. To answer your question there is a 4.9 volt spot on the PB but when you use it it dims the Power/Charge light so bad. you know if you follow the trace from the Mem and Wifi leds you can get a location to solder to by scraping off some enamal. The reasion your Leds dont light up anymore is cause you fried the resisters (to much heat for to long). I suggest you use a 15watt iron and flux next time (if you wernt before).  :victory:

i just got the voltage from nico and yes when you solder to that point the led will be dim or gone completely

i soldered a powerboard with leds once using the point and the power neg and the power didn't work but charge still did

4dp, I think the one green spot you have on the led is actuly 2.8 or 2.6 but I could be wrong its been a long time since I looked. Other then that thats a good image with great info.
