Title: Will this work?
Post by: PspKicks316 on June 07, 2008, 05:01:10 AM
This RAM water cooler block http://www.xoxide.com/koolance-ram-30-v06.html (http://www.xoxide.com/koolance-ram-30-v06.html)
with this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188024 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188024)

The RAM block description says it's not compatible with some motherboards so I wanna make sure it'll work.

You will not need watercooling for RAM, ram doesnt need any cooling, as the ones that would need some form come with heatsinks.

Leave the ram alone.

Ok thanks Matt. And will a 850watt psu fit in this case? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133056 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133056)

Yeah, an Armor is a massive case, atleast 3ft tall!

Hm. Well the specs say its 2ft. Still a bit big. I'll look into a different case :P

Look at the specs that NewEgg has for it.
23.6" x 9.6" x 24.6"  HxWxD
That is no where near 3ft.

I've decided on this anyway http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043)

If you're still worried about the ram then just secure a fan to em. Lots of dudes I know do that when they OC, or when they buy really cheap ram that needs a HS but doesn't come with one. The new case you picked owns btw.

Thanks man! And nah I'm nor gonna be overclocking I don't think. And the case has enough fans to keep me good for the RAM. Hell, it'll keep me good for a while till I get my WaterCooling system.

not a true statement. water cooling ram can be seen as over kill. but keeping it cool is important for fast accurate data transfer.

and @ pspkicks

all power supply's will work with that case. the only time you need to worry about if it will fit or not is if it is a 1000w psu that is longer than a normal or if it is a small form factor psu that is meant for a much smaller case.

yeah ram needs to stay a bit cool...overheating is bad for it

i saw something in a electronics store..it was a bendy fan that was intended for RAM cooling, screw it in w/ your mobo and bend it towards the ram (cooling it a bit, i guess)

I'll probably get a fan. I'm only getting essential parts at first to save money, then later getting the other parts I want/need, so I'm not gonna be doing any intense gaming or anything for a bit so I don't think I'll need it at first.

its called a spot cooler. its a 80mm fan on a flexible neck that you can position to blow on any thing you need it to.

personally i don't like them but thats because i like supper clean cases. i hate seeing wires

How many sticks are ya using? I mean if you're using 2x2gb or 2x4gb then there's absolutely no need to get any extra cooling. I mean if you wanted 4 sticks that are all cramped together then it MIGHT be another story, but really you only need an extra fan if A. RAM doesn't have a heatsink or B. you're gonna OC it like mad. There should be enough space between the sticks for enough air to keep it runnin cool.

yeah it would look messy, but if it keeps it cool then oh well :/

DDR2-800? If they have heatsinks you're fine. Its the OC/overvolt that makes em hot, or runnin in a SFF type case with little airflow (that Antec is no SFF lol).
