i just had a great idea, although it needs someone who can code as i cant.
i didnt realise they made mini usb to famale usb cables (LINK TO WHAT I MEAN (http://www.jetmall.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=200))<-------- found by pax :D
plug in a bluetooth dongle into it, create a program that can read from bluetooth from the usb, PRESTO!!! send/receive files from bluetooth!

well lets hope sony makes the psp 2 like how we would like it :P

he was talking about transferring of files and such, the bluetooth mod that is currently done is useable ONLY for music headphones (aka a2dp).

This is impossible with the psp's usb port, but if you could connect it to the psp's serial port...
-
it may work now, just an idea but if there was a bluetooth dongle compatible with linux and you installed it on the nslu2 with the correct drivers and someone created a homebrew which allowed the psp to communicate with the dongle via the nslu2 and send/receive files via bluetooth. it may work, but would be pretty difficult. check out the hard drive thread in the psp section for more info
-
I don't see this very interesting just for transfering files, wifi ad hoc is pretty faster than bluetooth. Also common bluetooth dongles only support around 2MBps so using a 2.0 usb is a little bit overkilling for that speed, using the serial port would be far enough. I would be interested in adding AVRCP compatibility through the serial port but just for transfering files I doubt we could get faster speeds than with wifi file transfer.
-
We already have bluetooth working on linux and someone else has it running on a NSLU2.
Wireless is 10 times faster and we have that working. I am debugging the last of nethostfs for the NSLU2 right now.
Why would you want bluetooth which is so much slower ?
-
i wouldn't do it, i was just stating that it was possible using the nslu2, thanks to you lol
-
bluetooth would add the funtion of connencting to moblie phones if supporting software was written for the psp. that'd be handy for swapping songs/photo's/whatever. i ordered the NSLU2 yesterday with the hope of being able to connect all sorts of usd goodies eventualy.

Do you live under a rock? The psp2 has been out for a longggg time now. It's called the Psp Slim >_>;;
-
I think he means a completely new version rather than the slim, yes it's the second console but all it is, is a slimer version we all love. like the ps2 and the ps2 slim.
-
The Psp Slim IS the Psp2 though.
-
The PSP Slim was a smaller, lighter version of the PSP Phat, with the add hardware of the TV out. The PSP2 they are refering to is a massive hardware update
-
Fine whatever. I'm not gonna fight.
-
There is no need to fight but Mac = Fail
-
The Psp Slim IS the Psp2 though.
Yes, but like vox said, it's just an updated psp phat, nothing more. sony shouldn't of called it a 'psp2' really.
i'm not arguing with you dude. just stating the facts. :)
-
Yes, it WAS CALLED the psp2, hence, it IS the psp2. Maybe not a hardware up'ed psp, but it's still the psp2 by many people.
I think we should go back on topic xD
Bluetooth:no.

Like H-Sause, I am working on an internal bluetooth design, but still need someone to program it since I have a mac computer.
If anyone would like to help me please Email me at mfaltys@gmail.com
I think linking up with phones is a great idea. :hifive:

DUDE WTP way to go and bump a topic from a LLOONNNGGG tima ago, plz dont say this is spam AGIN :faint:
I am just saying that he should not bump old topics
-
Since this topic is already "bumped" im gonna ask a question/give a scenario that maybe someone can shed some light on coresponding to the bluetooth mod.
You say the psp acts as a slave correct? Slaves cannot initiate data transfers, but they can respond to requests from hosts. So if they can respond to requests from a host, would it not be possible to use the computer bluetooth to send out the requests to the psp itself?
I know my motorola slvr L7 has this same issue, can be found...but cant search and send. Contact has to be initiated from another device and data has to be chosen from that device to transfer from my L7 to the device requesting. Would this not be the same scenario for the psp?
