ok well i will tell you how i got a (semi-working) xbox 360
rrod 360 = $25
av cables = $10
ac power brick = 20
that wasnt the exsact price, there was some cents in there and that inlcudes shipping =], i also got a 360 webcam thing with a live headset for $0.99 except the shipping was like 20 bucks lol, i think i will sell the cam and get a controller becuase i didnt realy need the cam, i just bought it cuz it was cheap, and i also got 3 1 month xbl card numbers for $3, there expired tho, i just have to set the time back lol :P
i have none of this stuff yet but i hope to get soon and i will tell you when i have it working, btw does anybody want to trade a wireless controller for the xb live cam?

yea, i put this up in the auctions section too, i will sell to anyone who wants it too, or if anybody wants to trade, i just need a controller to complete me 75 dollar 360 ( the cam was about $20 so yea)

good luck fixing that s**t, you do know most RROD's are caused by heat, which cause the motherboard to warp(bend), causing all kinds of chips inside not to make contact with the board, thus usually can'y be fixed using solder, as these chips warp off around 1mm or so, thus can only be fixable using lasers,

Do you realize people fix these things every single day using washers and screws? There's TONS of tuts on how to do it. You don't need some stupid laser

i recently did rrod fix myself, 32 washers and some machine screws from lowes, i find it kind of ironic how i have to go to LOWES to fix a MICROSOFT piece of electronics lol. its not hard, the most expensive part is the thermal silver, and the most time consuming part is the cleaning of the old thermal paste. great deal man!

hmm, i dont remember where i got the idea, my first plan was to buy a bunc of rrod for like 50 bucks and sell em for liek 200 or sumthing lol, i think that isnt going to happen lol, i might sell this xbox later tho

While overheating / warping of the mobo is the leading cause of the rrod, it's not the only cause. Any number of hardware issues will cause the rrod. There are a ton of tuts for fixing separated gpus... but there is no tut for fixing the other causes of the rrod. If you're going to buy a rrod console, your best bet would be to at least find out what the error code is, first.
