nice got the lighting down you should have mad the hands pop out or at least put the sig size higher

Focal point to dark, Possibly remove scan lines over the general area, lighten etc.

Bland Background, Looks like you took a render slapped it onto a grey background and threw some scan lines on.

Fine for first sig attempt, Just giving advice.

*BUMP* ok i took some of MusiK's advice and tried to make the focal point brighter. didn't really know what to do with the background so i left as is.

You could keep the scan lines, but make sure you out them behind Altair

ok me being an idiot didnt save the original psd file with all the layers i was working with so i kinda just got the png i had and blurred out some of the scan lines and and messed around with it to make it brighter

lower the opacity of the brush stroked layer, maybe set to lighten aswell

under that layer ...

New Layer > Apply image...

Blur out eveything around the render and set that layer to lighten, should make the render *pop*

I find that teh best way to get better is to jsut attempt stuff, even if you dont think its good yo ushould still give ti a try :D

more colour variation maybe make the render "pop" a bit mroe.

I went for a cartoony effect, it was really easy, just two steps then i messed around with it and turned it into a sig.
