Be nice if you had say three leds indicating how much power is left, but then you have an indicator on screen.

doesent the nintendo gameboy sp have this already the light is green when full and red when low and kinda orange in between?could be wrong though havent played one in a few years

The DS does, Well its green but when it goes to low power it goes red

I remember seeing someone who used the edge of a cd case and a dremel to cut the bottom of the PSP in a rectangle and he had pretty much underglow on his PSP.
I think this would look sick paired with that.

Where would you solder it to get the appropriate voltage, tho?
