Hi there,
I'm currently modding my DS but I've blown up the connector to the touchscreen-layer now. So I've to solder the points directly to the pcb. There are the points X+/- and Y+/-. But now I need to know, which connector on the foil cable of the touchscreen-layer is which one.
Please answer quickly, and thanks ;)

Just lay the ribbon cable down next to the points and solder it the way it looks, you don't need to know exactly which is which, just solder it how it goes in the connector.
-
That's the same :censored:ing thing I said except harder.
-
My Lord, lay the cable down and solder it where the connector points are, I've done this before, it works fine.
-
My GOD. Let me rephrase it. Desolder the "blown up" connector off the mobo and then solder the ribbon on. It's not hard. I'VE DONE THIS BEFORE.

wow... pointless flaming
pspkicks is right my friend =\
id like to know 2 things though, which pin does what? and is the touchscreen resistive?
-
ah sorry i didn't see this topic sooner,
a touch screen is resistive, its a type of variable resister, it uses an analogue signal like a joystick
anyway i made these pics to help phenominal out with this a while ago, all it takes is what pspkicks said plus a little multimeter work:

if i solder to those points (the ones in diamond formation), isnt it going to disallow my screen from laying properly?
-
not if you do it right
-
ok, just making sure, i dont want any extra stress on any of my components
im 100% confident in my ability to do it right =]
-
yeah just make sure you dont make your soldering ridiculously large blobs and ensure that you put some tape over the joins to insulate otherwise you'll mess with your bottom screen
-
my bottom screen is already insulated, isnt yours?
either way, im still putting tape =P
-
No no, he means make sure you put tape or something over the solder joints so it doesn't short or anything.
-
yeah, i know, but the only thing thats gonna touch them (the screen) already has tape on it
unless thats conductive tape, but i doubt it
