FYI, I've been able to use the MdFly USB programmer from eBay.
I've flashed 12F683 hex from King Mike on to it just fine.
It didn't work with the software it came with, but it worked with the DIYPack software.
I'm guessing it's a counterfeit kit, but for 30 bucks it works really well.
