Title: NO PICTURE, SOUND & BACKLIGHT OKAY
Post by: Psyco-Man on August 08, 2008, 08:44:50 AM

Hi there

That is my first Post here but i m getting crazy with my PSP SLIM 2001

When i turn on the PSP, Power Led cames, Sony Jingle is playing its music, backlight is turning on , but. .... there is no Picture on the Screen!!  i tested the LCD in an other PSP Slim and there it is working without problems,... which means for me that the fault is not the LCD.

What can i do ??  The PSP was never bevor opened and i had to cut the seal to open the PSP SLIM. And it never felt to ground.... i cant imagine what happened ,... but i ve read that it is a known damage, but no one has a solution for it.

Could this really be the truth ??? No One Know´s this ??? Unbelievable for me in times with WWW

How ever,.. hope you can help me, or tell me why this happens.

Best greets
Psy

It could have just died from static electricity...

There is no way to fix this unless your LCD wasn't in all the way its pretty much useless..

hi there

@gotjumbo911: i dont think that it died because of static electricity. i played all the time with the protection case with it.

@MARIOPARTY53:  when i tooked it apart ?  maybe you understud me wrong...... before i tooked it apart and before i cut the seal, the PSP was in original condition and never opened. i thought to open it to check if maybe the LCD cable or clip isn´t fully closed/connected.

i think its one of the faults that have to be known.... it can´t be unknown ;)

maybe i try to messure all components and compare them with a good one.

hope that i get meanwhile a solution or a tip so that i can spend my time with other things

bridge the backlight fuse

(don't know if there even is a backlight fuse on a slim)

Yea there is. But that wouldn't work... It's a screen fault or the mobo(probably mobo).

I have no idea if this helps or if this is relevant, but when i picked up my psp slim there was a creak on the boottom left corner of it (where the memory stick light is), kinda like a creaking floor. and whenever you want to press the HOME button, I would have to squeeze it down with force, so i exchanged it for a new one that was fine. My point is that maybe your psp came in with the faceplate not being pushed in far enough, thus maybe making the screen not respond to anything (I've never looked inside a PSP before, I'm just taking a wild guess).

Hope this helped, good luck!

take pics of the inside where the lcd connects along with the outside...maybe a video of you turning it on...it would help greatly so someone could see if there is anything wrong

Hey there, i was thinking same thing as the person above me^^^^^. You should get some good quality pics of the inside of your psp, we may be able to compare, and give you a answer.

If I had to guess the LCD data connection is loose or dirty it is the long white connection circled in green. the short one is power for the backlight...

Since your system is in a non-working condition I would try this:

get a Q-tip.. dampen it with rubbing alchohol (NOT SOAKING WET) just damp..

then clean the longer ribbon cable and the connection at the mobo.. allow to dry 5-10 mins then try again...

you may have also damaged the LCD data ribbon cable by tweaking it left or right..

You are confirming that the LCD does work in another slim? if so what about the LCD from that one? have you tried it in the broken PSP?
