Title: Efficiency of charging circuit compared to the battery?
Post by: DK on August 11, 2008, 06:52:56 AM
Been meaning to make an improved battery of my PSP for ages. I was wondering how efficient the charging circuit of the PSP was. If it is efficient I'll probably just build an external battery pack. If it's inefficient I'll just have to mod the battery by either putting 2 in parralell before the batterys PCB (to avoid only 1 cell being charged) or just buy a 3.7V Li-on battery with a larger capacity.

The charging circuit is very efficient.

Do not waste your money on the high current Chinese batteries as the highest output
one does not even run as long as the stock PSP one

If I was going for a long duration battery, I would put a jack in an old battery and supply
3.7 volts directly. I would not provide the 5 volts through the charging circuit.
