Hi, I am tryin to set up a home recording studio and was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas of what i should get in the way of a PC. I imagine that the best (and cheapest lol) thing to do would be to custom build one, so if anyone has any ideas or info they can give me it would be greatly apreciated.

Recording what? Music? Video? HD Video? How many channels are you going to be inputting?
-
lol sorry, im recording music, and im pickin up an 8 channel pre amp as soon as i have enough $....so probably in a few weeks, cause im doin some work on one of my guitars and i would like to get that done first cause iv put it off to long now
-
So will you be recording 8 seperate audio sources at once?
-
will mostly be recording one at a time but when it somes to drums i will be recordin up to 8, depends on the kit

Okay, so i would suggest a Quad Core, ALOT of Ram, and a couple fast HDD's, i would write up a general parts list, but its fairly straight forward. For GPU Use a mid range one such as the ATi 4850, nothing too powerful.
Also, depends on your budget, and what software/hardware you will be using aswell, as it could be a good oppurtunity for a Mac Pro ;)

Definitely a quad core, what matt said, a lot of ram. I'd go for a few 300GB Raptor HDDs or other 10k rpm drives too.

Yeah, definitely 10K Drives, you dont want all that RAM being filled by Stuff that needs to go on the Hdd.

thanks for the help

If you make a parts list, i will go over it if you want.
