okay well it all looks good but the only problem i see is the power. you need more power. the 4870 takes a lot of power. I  should have planned for the future and went with a power supply that supplies 600 watts of continuos power. I got a 520 watt corsiar through.
but yea I would prob invest in a 750 watt corsair if i where you.

With the Q6600, you would get at least 3.0GHz at stock vcore.

I would rather get this memory instead. http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-SKILL-PC2-6400-CL5-DDR2-800-Memory/dp/B000RJH32C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221196874&sr=1-2 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-SKILL-PC2-6400-CL5-DDR2-800-Memory/dp/B000RJH32C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221196874&sr=1-2)
I seen other people use these and overclock well.

but yh, im lookin for a 750w psu now, might have to make some changes. my budget is about £700.

the q6600 overclocks like there is no tommorow. so with a 750 watt power supply or so you should be able to get 3.6 ghz as long as you have adaquate cooling. The fan you chose should be fine. You should get some artic silver thermal paste.

Good luck

im running 2 eVGA GTX280 SuperClocked  and they are awsome, but i havent played on a ATI 4870 so im not sure about that card  :dntknw:

I've had my q6600 stable @ 3.9 on air cooling, had to keep the side of the case open though.  i keep it @ 3 under manageable temps however.

if i have some money left over, i am going to hook up a blue CCFL to a sound controller, like the psp led mod.

so that i can keep the "Blue Storm" :P

im running my Q6700 at 3.6 GHz and the temp runs about 36F idle and 40-45 while gaming/under load
