Title: How long?
Post by: Tri-edge on September 18, 2008, 12:01:54 PM: How long does it take you guys to download a 6-8gb file through a torrent? It's taking forever with me and I can't figure out why.

Post by: PspKicks316 on September 18, 2008, 12:44:32 PM: It's taking forever because you're downloading it from OTHER PEOPLE. They upload it (seed) when they're done downloading and leave it open. The more seeders the faster it is (depending on your internet speed at this point).

At least that's how I think it is...

wirelessly on a macbook with the maximum signal strength
using transmission
getting about 30kbs
from about 60 peers

But im downloading 5Gb and has taken over 2 months, but in that time, i've downloaded popular movies of 700Mb in 2 hours or so, about 50 movies, and lotsa other stuff.

yeah, I usually connect to a couple hundred people, I d/l all seasons of ATHF (7.5 gigs) in about 9 minutes, and its usually faster than that
