Hi there,
i have just done the sound reactive trigger led mod and when i turn it on the leds light up but they stay constantly, they dont go on or off with the sound. i have wired the 2 leds which are red ones to a 10ohm resistor and connected them to the right speaker?
Thanks for your help,
Marcus

re-solder it, if its not a cold solder u did something wrong
-
Maybe take off the resistor? I never use resistors when I wire LEDs directly to speakers and they work great.
-
Ah ok, thanks for your replies.
i will take the resistor out tomorrow and let you know if it works.
thanks

Have you done it with red though? It might burn out, and if it lasts it wont last long...Red Leds are a pain in the ass.

agreed, there the worst ones to use due to the limited power thy require, hence they blow with no resistor. try using 20ohm's, i had to do that for a mates psp to run red leds.
-
yes i am using the red leds. i will try a 15 ohm resistor and if that doesnt work i will try the 20ohm one.
Thanks for your help guys,
Marcus

np dude, hope you get it working!

I have just changed the 10 ohm resistor to a 15 ohm one and the leds are still on when there isnt any sound but when i play some music at high volume they do blink which they didnt do before so i am gonna get a 20 ohm resistor to see if this works any better.
Also i have connected the two leds like this -
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi233.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee3%2Fmarcus_naylor%2FLedcircuitdiagram.jpg&hash=174e6cda10b8a8e6d23bf4746fd12d8f2c8e59ac)
and the problem is that before with the 10ohm resistor they both turned on fine but now with the 15 ohm resistor only the leds connected the speaker work. So should i connect the resistors after the switch?
Thanks
Marcus

yes, that should work. if i'm honest, i've not seen or heard alot of people adding a swich to a direct led mod, but the plan seems fine but i wouldn't wire up the + wire to the power board. you only do that if your using the soundboard mod. just wire both the + wires you have on the plan to the + speaker point and that will be fine dude.

Like this,

I have added a switch so i can either have the leds to be sound reactive or just constanly on and it i wire both + points to the speaker wont this make the leds to just be sound reactive?
Thanks

ah, i did realise you wanted both. then yes that will be fine. as long as you add a resistor to the + speaker point and one to the powerboard then all will be well. make sure to post a pic when your done. :)

Ah ok then. I will just need to find a 20ohm resistor and get the leds stuck in place.
Will it be ok if i change the power/charger led and the wifi/memory card led's to be all red or do they need some kind of resistor?
Thanks
Marcus

no, you can just add them without the resistor. it's only with the led trigger mod that you need a resistor. the power/charger led and the wifi/memory card led's require less power.

Ok then, Thanks for all your Aphex. I will get the psp done this week (hopefully)
Thanks again

thats what i did first but when i changed it from a 10 ohm to a 15 ohm resistor the leds that are supposed to be on constantly didnt come on.
-
if i wired two 10ohm resistors in series would this be 20ohm as i havnt got any 20ohm resistors atm?
Thanks

I have just rewired everything and the leds work but i have another problem.
This is with the positive connection on the powerboard as the leds do not go off when i switch the psp off i have to turn them off on the led switch so is it possibly to connect the led positive wire to the psp switch?
Thanks

I have done red LEDs with no resistors and they still work fine..

i've found that 4-6+ red leds are fine, anytthing less and they will blow out.

not that i'm aware of, normaily the wifi or hold swich is hooked up to the ground wire of a soundboard led mod. i think it could be done, but i'm not sure how. it could be the case that you can solder one end of the + wire to one of the swich pins then the other wire from the leds to the pin next to it. i've never tried that before, however that would make sense. (correct me if i'm wrong people). :)
-
I elieve you could use the + of the power indicator light for your +.
that way it would turn off.
-
Ah ok, So to connect it to the + of the power indicator would i have to scratch away one of the traces and solder the wire to that?
Thanks
Marcus
