I was modding a controller, and when I put it back together nothing turns on w/ play and charge or batteries. any suggestions

Shorts? Check for them.

I have had the same problem.  Desolder everything and try turning on.  It should work.  Now resolder a lot more carefully.

Sounds stupid, but works for me.

The only thing I can see is player 2 led is not conected to player 1 led.
but im not sure thats the case because they havent been connected for a while, and now its messed up
