got any suggestions?

you can hit up King Mike if you want them preprogrammed, he would probably give you a good deal if you buy bulk. I have purchased a lot of my stuff from http://www.digikey.com/ (http://www.digikey.com/). You can also check out Allied Electronics. But I stopped using mouser cuz their prices were crap.

check Newark I think they had chips for like $1.30 versus mouser's ~$2

Mousers are actually around 1.18 ea. I'll check out those other sites tho. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Digikey, Allied and Newerk has 25+ for $1.15ea
Newark and Allied have 1-25 for $1.18ea
Mouser has 10-99 for $1.18ea

Wow.
I surprised you guys actually care about the $0.30 difference between suppliers. I mean, most people are only looking to buy a couple of them, unless they plan to sell them pre-programmed. And if you go that route, the price difference between places is like $0.05. Either way, its piddle. The shipping costs between Digikey and Mouser and Allied is somewhere in the range of $8-$15. That makes more of a difference even if you buy bulk.
Pick the place that has the OTHER stuff you want to purchase also. Like say switches and resistors and LEDs.
