I want to mod my controller but I've been reading up here that it will only work with one model..
So I am just wondering.. What do I need?
I don't exactly want to buy a "kit" because I want to do this myself.
I also read in several places that a 555 timer would work.. I found one at RadioShack but I don't know what else I would need to buy.
Could someone please explain a bit or give a video on exactly what I need?
Thanks guys..

555 timer works on all, follow the TUTS here...
King mike's kits and chips work on all, follow the tuts here and buy from his shop...
EVERYTHING will work on ALL controllers unless you're stupid and feel like doing the no-chip rapidfire, which is a stupid decision. You don't want that one if you're going to be using it frequently. I recommend Mike's chips, or wait a bit, he's coming out with a new one soon

1.) Sorry but I don't really want to buy a kit..
2.) All the tutorials I found were to either take out rumble packs or for dual rapid fire. I want to keep rumble packs and I only want single rapid fire.

this is not true, i have bought mikes chips and made 555 timer chips, and they are all small enough to fit behind either of the rumble motors

Sorry to ask.. I am very lazy but I actually did an extensive search and found mainly tutorials for like rapid fire "with different modes"....
Please just this once, can someone give me a link? :x:

There's about 49574235 threads in here about the 555 timer mod.
Oh, and buying a CHIP from mike is NOT buying a kit. It's buying a chip, then going home and wiring it up with wire and a button. Buying a kit is the chip, wire, and button.
Either way you're buying a chip, why not support the site, and get a BETTER chip, too!
=D Everyone wins!
Ok, I'll be nice. Here's a 555 timer tut...it was on page TWO of the 360 section >_>

Wow thanks.. :)
Well I just hate buying online.. But if I have to, I guess I will..
Is this the one you mean? https://acidmods.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=32 (https://acidmods.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=32)?
If it is.. I only want a single button.. not dual, and I don't exactly want to have to pay for dual..

this is the one to buy if you really only want single rapid fire, i know it says dual, but all you have to do is wire up the right trigger. And just dont even bother with the left
-
Corry, by your own admittance, you are probably too lazy to do the 555 chip. the tut on there is not very reliable and needs to be modified anyway. buy mikes chip https://acidmods.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=81
it will be a lot easier on you. its also cheaper than buying all the components needed for the 555 chip
-
LOL modded matt.
No, the tuts are right, they don't need to be modified. LOFL. And it's easier to DO (buying the chip) then doing the 555 timer, but the 555 timer parts can all be bought in radioshack.
-
yeah the 555 timer is pretty easy to build with some $2 breadboard, and all the parts from radioshack. I believe it was a around $5.50 for all the components to build the chip which is a bit cheaper than mikes chips but i have a couple of the 3 mode chips from mike and now i cant go back!

pspkicks, no disrespect, but I think your posted statement about silly's 555 tut is inaccurate, have you actually done silly nuts 555 timer tut? I have done it multiple times, with the same results every time. it works but is very inconsistent, sometimes you get instant rapid fire, some times it stutters and then goes rapid. I believe this is due to an inadequate power input. if you change to the low power chip, change the 0.1uf cap between 1&2 to a 1.0uf cap, and add a 0.1 cap between 1 & 5 this will use less power and stabilize the current. thus allowing for a much more consistent mod. it will then fire the same every time. weather its used on every shot or just every now and then it is consistent with the changes I have made. I will post a new schematic this weekend.
my only problem is how to wire this to the sync button to turn it on and off. I ordered mikes chip (hopefully here today) for my new controller, so I don’t have to mod the case. but my older ones (all cg type) I have used a modified 555 chip with a small push on push off switch mounted on opposite the sync button, but I sure would like to do away with this button. done a lot of research here with no luck any ideas?

Hey Modded Matt,
If you want to make the 555 work with the sync you will need to use a jk flip flop and a transistor. Here is some ciruit ideas that can achieve your desired goal:

the first design the guy has posted will do the trick. reply with questions if you have any, and I can do my best to help.
