NICE! im so clumsy, if i done water cooling it would probably be bodged and kill £800 worth of parts
Title: Re: "Blue Majestic" Gaming PC is finally finished!
Post by: blackburn on September 27, 2008, 11:54:24 PM
yeah i was scared at first, i made sure i did like 500 tests outside of the case first  :x: i still check on it a lot though

You should have gotten a custom watercooling kit. They perform a lot better than thermaltake water cooling systems.

how much did this system cost?? bet you could get some decent frame rates in crysis from that thing.

Decent?! That thing's gotta be a BEAST!
I'm curious as well, how much did that cost?
Title: Re: "Blue Majestic" Gaming PC is finally finished!
Post by: blackburn on September 29, 2008, 01:24:53 PM
yeah its a BEAST it cost me right around $3,000 to build, considering i used to have a p7n diamond motherboard but decided to change to the eVGA 790i Ultra, because i had 4 p7n diamond boards die on me. (4th one just died on me about a month ago still on the 1st 790i Ultra  ) and before i got the 280s i had a single 8800 GTS 640 OC from BFG Tech (which i need to get rid of...) so the motherboard set me back $350 and the 2 GTX 280 cards set me back ~$900   :cry2:

you could drop you case temp considerably if you clean up your wires

hince the fact that i said "all i have to do is some wire management and it will be 100% finished"  :taunt:

i missed that im a bit ocd when it comes to cables or there might have been something shiny in my room
 yeah cleaning up cabling in the Antec 900 isnt easy because theres really not much room for anything extra anymore  :cry2:
and yeah im ocd about the wires / the whole computer as well... i cant stop messing with either the overclocking stuff, or trying to clean it up (wires, dust, everything lol)

Thats a awesome setup! I would of gone for two 4870x2's in Quad Crossfire as they would of out performed the two GTX 280s in SLI. Though it would of cost a bit more, just one thing, HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET $3000?

eh.... i dont really recommend them unless its just for looks, because the display is complete sh*t unless your PC is level with you and right next to you cant cant even read what it says, it just looks like a bunch of numbers lit up if you look at it from an angle. But it works REALLY well as an actuall fan controller just make sure if you dont have fans plugged in to certain spots to turn the fan alarm off cause it gets annoying as hell  it also has termal sensors you can place around the case to get case temps, i have one on one of my RAM sticks, one on the CPU heatsink, one in 1 hard drive holder, and one in between the Video Cards and they are pretty accurate! so yeah if you are using it on constantly look at then no no dont get it, but if its for looks and only going to be used every now and then and to add that "look" to your PC then 100% get it, im happy with even even with the shabby display

sorry for the double post but i figured i would just start another one for this question.....  :victory:

personally, i HATE ATI, absolutely cant stand them, especially as a Linux user as well, and no they will not out perform the 280s they will keep up but at higher resolutions  the 280s out perform.

and i got $3000 by working, selling rapid fire controllers, and basically modding in general for people and friends...

but why would you waste all that money on graphics cards?  There's nothing out there that needs that much power and by the time a game like that comes out those cards will be <200 bucks

WoW WotLK is going to require specs close to this PC and Crysis already does. I can get the full effect of Crysis by having all the settings on "Very High" and still have a decent framerate.

But that much money for a decent frame rate?  You could have bought all the game consoles, a huge hdtv and a sound system as well as a new desktop.

no, the car was a gift from my parents (still gotta pay car payment  :boxed: )

but my computer i worked and saved money for about 6 months to finally complete it, wither or not it was mowing grass for neighbors, working as a computer tech for local companies ( i really did this and made about $35 an hour for about 2 weeks  :#1: ) or just getting a job (just quit not to long ago) but i am not going into details, but my parents did not pay for ANY of it

first off, there are alot of things wrong with people on forums as i can tell (maybe just the fact that most are full of little kids or immature teenagers/adults)...... read the  :censored: ing posts dont just skim them, yeah my parents paid for the car, but now i have to pay the damn payments (still owe 17k left... not including all the aftermarket performance parts), and i buy all my consoles and  :censored: myself as well.  we have already gone through this.... so dont be a dumbass and post  :censored: like this in my thread

Quick question...
if you owed all the money on the car why would you put aftermarket parts into it?  I just bought my car for 5500 (2001 Monte Carlo) and was able to pay strait up cash, even though it has a horrible sound system that I plan on dropping about a grand into.

And going around saying everyone is immature and then throwing a temper tantrum doesn't help your point...

im not throwing a temper tantrum, it just seems like every day this forum gets worse and worse of kids getting on here and posting about how they can get their parents to buy them everything (EX: the kid in the "post your pics of your modded PS3" ) anyways can we please drop the subject and get back on topic  :hifive:
