Title: I know this has been
Post by: ndru98 on October 01, 2008, 08:59:07 PM
I know this has been answered before, and I searched it and couldnt find it.. so.... what types of switches should I use to turn on my sound reactive leds? Could I use this one?

What do you mean cut out the switches?

The one you linked to is actually 8 separate switches in a plastic case. You only need one so you'll need to cut it apart from the others.

Oh, really? Thats it? Just use like an exacto, cut it out, and I gots a switch? I wire it to the negative wire right?

doesnt matter where you wire it ;)

as long as it is in the circuit ;)

Then  why say it?

Oh an easier way to do it is use a dremel cut off wheel, Those switches are pretty tough so exacto might take a while ;)

Craaap... how much is a dremel? And also... if I were to do this for a sound reactive led mod.. andwhere like triggers or face buttons... how would I wire the switch? Diagram please?

KK,thanx. Also..... if I didnt want to buy the sound board... could I just route all the wire to the speakers? Say...if I wanted leds in the triggers, I would solder both wires to one of the the speakers right? Then.. say if I wanted to have my down button and x button lit up... same thing.. to the other speaker.. right? That WOULD work.. would it? Lastly.. can I put more than 2 LEDS to one speaker? Also... i didnt quite get your diagram... as I am new to soldering... How does the negative wire have 3 ends O.O, and if I just attach the switch there, it will also work to shut down the whole led, even without disconnecting the positive?

You could probably put 20 or so to one speaker before it causes a problem. And yes one switch in the circuit will turn all your LEDs on/off if you have all of the LEDs + or - side attached to it. The positive in the diagram only has one loose end. The ends that appear to be rectangles at the end represent where it attaches to the led. If you need a detailed noob-proof diagram or somthing let me know because I'd be glad to make you one. Just let me know:

20 leds on one speaker!? Won't work dude. you would find the speakers would be really dull, or won't give any sound what so ever. 10 on each speaker would be fine, anymore and there would be know point. you'd just have a flashing psp with no sound.

Ok here is the noob-proof diagram i promised:

You can put the switch on the negative wire also if you perfer but i dont think it really makes a difference. Just remember that no matter what, the gray or silver wire from the speaker is the positive and the black one is the negative.
