yeah doods, im getting my 3rd PS3 for 75 dollars. okay, okay, before you ask, i use my MGS4 PS3 for gaming, and my 40 GB upgraded to 500 GB PS3 as a computer (the ps3 im using to type this :hifive:).i went on craigslist on i saw a busted 20 GB PS3 for 100 dollars. i talked to the guy, and he said it was a busted Blyray drive. he said the motor doesnt spin. idk if the lasers fuxed up. is it possible to replace the disc motor with another motor, and what type of motor is it? any sites or stores i could get it from?

Good luck finding an exact replacement motor, You will have to replace the whole drive, or the motor and laser unit with OEM parts.
The motor would have to be the exact size, shape, and the exact same spec to work, the termination connector would have to be the exact same

yeah i got a steal of a ps3. i just got to send the money order and when he recives it ill ship it. :yess:. what do you guys think i should pay for a bluray drive? im thinking 50-70 dollars. whats say anyone else?
EDIT: its a 20 Gb model, but he upgraded the HDD to 40 GB so its an extra better steal.

ouch 20GB models have no wifi, apart from that, just as good as a 60GB.

idc about wifi, i can install YD5 and use a belkin wireless adapter and bam, wifi when using linux. i think.. if linux supports the adapter

yeah you can, using ndiswrapper, as far as i know the only adapter that isn't supported is the Netgear W111GT (my one) as it's drive is not a .inf file format.

ah, so then idc, i already have 2, a 80 GB MGS4 one for gaming, and 60 GB one for use a PC (using the ps3 right now :). the 20 is going to be my mod. dev. ps3, im gonna install some leds in the playstation 3 emblem (going to carve that out) and maybe put in a fader
