Title: you just got to love turkey...
Post by: H-Sauce on October 19, 2008, 03:05:32 PM
my step mum just came back from there, and kept on texting me saying she brought my back a wicked present. so theres me thinking "oh  :censored:, a crappy souviner that im never gonna use". but i should of remembered that my step mum is pretty cool. so when i get home from my mums i ask my dad what she got me, and he pulls out a <30 mW green lase with a 532nm wavelength. thats right, not a mega werful like 3000000mW one luke has (lol) but still powerful to cause sever eye damage and is illegal in the states (IIIa is the max, this is a IIIb)

also, i have a spare umd drive sitting around here, how could i  use the diode to make a laser? coz that would be coolio....

You can't use a UMD drive, it only reads not writes.

Also, ANY laser can cause eye damage...even those crappy <5mW red ones in convenience stores.

Turkey is awesome, you can find just about anything there ranging from guns to coins from colonial america, anything and everything is findable there just like Dubai.

Dubai is fricking awesome though.

Class IIIa

Lasers in this class are mostly dangerous in combination with optical instruments which change the beam diameter or power density.

Class IIIb

Lasers in this class may cause damage if the beam enters the eye directly. This generally applies to lasers powered from 5–500 mW. Lasers in this category can cause permanent eye damage with exposures of 1/100th of a second or less depending on the strength of the laser.

and heres a picture showing aa iiia and a iiib
