Title: New Ring of light plastic (method)?
Post by: GhoSt on November 01, 2008, 03:42:46 PM
well I was mucking round making a ROL yesterday and found a new way to make it, Using the top lid of a pringles can, I thought it would be weak but after I ran a clear coat of PVA through the gaps it was as strong as the cd case method, but much less brittle.

I used a contact adhesive to strech the cut to size pringles lid over the UMD door.

Pics of outcome.

it looks pretty messy atm because of the glue I used, but if you use a clear glue it will look very clean

@Sauce: I have never used a fader either, Probably won't use one in this either.

Ive used fader deluxe 3 times, is about the size of mikes sound mod board, it is thinner too.

You would have NO problem fitting both a Fader Deluxe and Mikes Sound Mod board under the wifi...

can't make A tut this time round, but mabe next time. Btw LaCozTe you faild to state the hardest part, cuttion and sanding the umd door and the psp logo into perfect circles without a dremmel. Remeber this mod is pretty self explanatory, The pringles lid needs to be cut to size.

Credit goes to DD or who ever made the original rings of light

I had a dremmel... It broke, like a half year ago, and I have dealt without it.

I took off the silver ring, used the drill press to drill out the circle, and spent about half a hour on each side sanding it, then glued the lot up.

Was it an actual dremel?
Or just a standard rotary tool?

It is a cool mod, but not worth it if it looks terrible on the inside.

does it really matter what brand it is? you can't really tell people to un-buy things.

Pointless comment.
I was asking, since everyoner refers to rotary tools as dremels.
But dremel is a brand, a good brand which wouldn't break like that.

yea it was a proper dremmel brand, got it from some good freinds of ours it worked for like 2 years, then whould only go at one speed I think the switch was broken, then it stoped all together 2 months later.

ya a dremel could prove to be one of the most useful tools to own when you do this sort of work... That and a soldering iron.

I use my dads dremel alot. Over time though alot of the bits came up missing. Need to buy a new set.
