Ya looks more like MS paint lolz
They just used a square brush to cover up Vista and wrote 7 then wrote Under Construction under the loading bar

I mean you can see the strokes of the brush...

its coming in 2009, but beta builds have been tested by techblogs already, a lot of information on it is out

visually looks identical to vista, except for its new taskbar, but under the hood its much different

There is NOTHING wrong with vista.
Everyone with Vista who complains about it...has no clue what they're doing or how to use a computer.

I have never had a problem that I didn't bring upon myself. Point blank, Vista is great.

Windows 7 though, it better be BEAST.

isnt vista not even vista anymore but a different kernal [win 2k8 i believe] just called vista even though it has nothing but the same name and look of the original pile of big floppy donky dong they called vista?

currently, i find nothing wrong with it, but you have to admit the launch of it didn't go great and initial reaction was mostly negative

as for W7, it is supposed to be a 'beast', in fact, from what i've heard, minimum ram req. was 485MB, which isn't half bad...vista bieng the RAM hog it is.
ALSO, they are supposedly making a build of it for netbooks, which is saying somthing, as current ones are running XP or linux, so its going to be much better, and as light, if not lighter than xp (which sounds promising, especially for netbook use)

i was going to move this topic, but many other people with the power to do so have commented in it, so i wont.

anyway back on topic, vista is great. i just think manufactures should stop putting them on computers that can't handle it. like my laptop, it would be much better if it had XP. but windows 7 should be great, can't wait for mid 2009!

I think they will just put in a few more cool mac features in vista and call it windows 7.

i use vista my self, i wasnt saying its crap, but there was a discussion about how they are making this new windows to make up for all the people that hate vista.. They are banking that the new windows will bring back there windows fans..
i have the beta of 7 if anyone wants it... pm me or i if i can ill post it here..

I really like the look of this new windows, vista and xp look good, but they're too much on the eyes.I love windows 2000 as it has less compatibility issues than vista and it has a nice simple design,it takes up very little ram and allows my laptop to run extremely fast.
windows 2000 FTW!!
windows 7 FTW!!

I for one like Vista, but my computer can more than handle it.  Only gripe as of now is the fact that RDP is disabled on the home versions and I can't activate it using the registry editor because they locked us out of it with SP1.  That and I won't switch to business vista (can do it for free from RIT) because you lose the media center abilities.

Hopefully Windows 7 has the ultimate pack for a little less money than Vista, because I'd jump on board for it this time around.

The word is "bought". You can't "brought" something.
and, a lot of people buy Vista, simply because it's a good OS.
The people complaining about it are the people with computers/laptops that can't handle its requirements and such.

and the 15second boot. and some more stuff i can't tell :P
new icons etc.. everything has been renewed, with a bit of vista aero style.

yeah the way it works is supposed to be easier on your RAM (windows 7 window manager devotes RAM to active windows only, whereas Vista does for all windows, be they minimised, doing nothing, or open, doing nothing) and extend notebook battery life aswell.

see im not really likeing it all that much - i must admit its fast but i dont know theres just something about it i think its to do with the start bar just having the icons and not the lables like in vista or xp. i will see - maybe it will grow on me - who knows

plus i am running it in vmware so i may not be getting its full benefit as i cant get direct x to work

I'm downloading the beta later on and installing it in VMware on my Linux partition...see how crappy it is.

And, you said "Brought" instead of "bought."

Read who I quotes before even trying to correct me.

And, I never buy Windows :taunt: It's a waste of money, cuz you can get a much better Linux OS for free. So why pay for Windows too? :D

Because a majority of the programs out there when you go to higher education school require you to either use Windows or Mac.  Even at one of the best tech schools in the world the kids haven't gotten linux to work 100 percent with a lot of the stuff out there.

ppl complained on how long it took damn vista to boot. my pc is a quad core running at 3.6 Ghz, and it STILL takes vista ultimate 40-60 seconds to boot. most of it comes from the sidebar taking for ever. if this vista boots in less than 30 seconds, itll be FTW  :yess:

You have an EXTREMELY crappy machine if it takes that long.
From pressing my power button to being completely booted, it takes ~30ish seconds, not including typing in my password (which doesn't count towards boot time).
That's on a laptop with a 2.4ghz mobile core 2 duo with 4gb of ram on a 200gb or so(I forget) hdd with Vista Ult., Ubuntu, and OSX on it, cluttered with tons of programs and such.

id say 50 seconds including password
and thats from pressing button to sidebar working and system running at idle ( 1-5 percent cpu usage

the vista sidebar is queer. I don't use it.
So basically, for me that'd be from power button to Kasperskry, MSN, and AIM starting?
Yeah, around 45ish. My laptop's pretty beast. XD
And, my cpu generally stays around 10%ish on load, it pretty much only goes past that when I first start something or I'm doing a lot. I haven't seen my cpu go over like 35%ish and that 35% was playing Crysis Warhead last night.

The only reason anyone's computer would take any marginal amount of time over others to boot up is the amount of ram the computer has.  The more ram in your system, the more stuff Vista preloads to the ram to make the computer faster after being booted up.

I love how Windows 7 has a built-in ISO burning program, something I've been wanting Microsoft to include for a VERY long time.  7 looks to be very promising. I've been using it on my extremely old Dell Latitude D505 and it flies.

Personally, I don't see any harm on sending out the "pirated" version of the beta.  If it was hurting Microsoft in any way then I would be against it, but it could only potentially benefit from it, so meh.

Chris {PspKicks} says (6:24 PM):
How do you feel about someone posting links to the leaked beta of Windows 7? It's technically pirated, it's a CLOSED beta and someone wants to post a link so people at AM can download it. That's illegal in a sense, it's pirated. Are you ok with that? I removed the links and now the guy's :censored:ing and Robin was gonna check the links out and Reaper doesn't give a :censored:.
