Title: Portable PS2 MOD! [XX2] Tutorial ADDED!
Post by: Electro on December 06, 2008, 01:20:05 PM
-PS2 MODE-

-PSP 2K MODE VIA AV IN-
(Future MOD may include a PSP 2K MOBO built into the XX2.)

--------------------Tutorial---------------------

Opening the PS2 is quite easy all you need is a - screwdriver and + 1.

The image below shows you the points to solder to get AV-OUT on a Slim PS2.
(Audio and Video)

The ground cage shouldn't be removed unless you are using the contacts to solder internal controls in.

As seen in this image:

This is really the only pictures you need.
Since everyone will most likely use a different LCD Screen.

If you need help on connecting your screen internally you can ask me.

Hmm sweet idea, I'd try it, however you might wanna post a few more details, for example, rough dimensions, and perhaps what you plan to do. Took me a while to figure it out. Although this is great. Do it and post a tutorial!

 :faint:

I think concept 2 is better. The layout of the right hand buttons would be awkward. I never figured out what those buttons are called, and calling them the /\ [] O X buttons sounds too complicated...

Time will tell.

I'm still waiting on the SLim PS2.
I sold my old 1 and only have the FAT PS2 left.
And that motherboard is 2 big to fit in this shell.

So how are you going to power it using 9v batteries in serial or ac plug
Title: Re: Portable PS2 MOD! ~W.I.P.~
Post by: Electro on December 07, 2008, 07:10:18 PM
I only play games when I'm at home.
So I will use AC power.

But I will still probably make that detachable Battery pack unit. :)

Yup Its totaly possible anyways what kind of battery's do you plan to use.Wow Im going to try and find something like the ilove since im getting a ps2 slim grey for 20$ off friend but ill have a hard time figuring out how to wire the screen
Title: Re: Portable PS2 MOD! ~W.I.P.~
Post by: Electro on December 08, 2008, 02:43:16 PM
Thats why you should get a broken DVD Player or something.
Make sure that the AV is works though.

I would get the iLuv because there under $100 if your luck on ebay andd there is room for the Slim PS2 parts.
At least I hope so. :D

If you can find 1 like that then you can do a mod similar to mine.

yeah ill try but yeah dude fitting the ps2 cd player in ther wont be to hard since there's already one there just replace it or will you have to mod it to make it fit. What do you have to do to get in the R and D team
Title: Re: Portable PS2 MOD! ~W.I.P.~

Uh... develop mods? I haven't see any new mods from you, so don't get your hopes up. You actually have to be a good modder. Even if you don't develop mods, you have to be willing to try new things, be a good modder, etc.

What bustinthejustin said.

The site moderators need to recognize you as a good moder and if they do you get the spot.

2. Replace the DVD Drive with the 1 of the PS2's.
3. Solder the Video Out derectly to the iLuv Motherboard.
4. Cut out and put in PS2 controls.
5. Put in 2nd Player PS2 Controler port. (Maybe both)[/b][/center]

My cat is taking a little time off from helping me. :D
And since he is the genius behind the whole operation U can see it isn't the best it can be.  :boxed:

And yes the screen can be detached and atached to another system lik an XBOX if I choose.
Or used with a Slim PSP with the Video cable.

This screen is FULLY stand ALONE design and can be used on anything.

hmm, nice but it seems to me like it would be flimsy, plus why didnt you internalize the controller

It's not flimsy as it may look.
And as for the controlers I still WILL add them later when I change the desighn. ;)

yea, try to make it like a psp, you know everything in one
not a seprete button set there, and speakers plug in, etc

then it should be good to go

Title: Re: ~UPDATE~ Portable PS2 MOD! [XX2]FINISHED! New design and pics! :D
Post by: bustinthejustin on January 11, 2009, 05:28:44 PM
Correction - a heavy PSP built on PS2 hardware and weighs like 5 pounds, when the original PSP is already based on PS2 graphics XD I still think this is a sweet mod though, it'd be awesome to play games on the go like in a car...
Title: Re: ~UPDATE # 3~ Portable PS2 MOD! [XX2]W.I.P! FInal design and pics! :D
Post by: ryan0 on January 21, 2009, 10:15:52 AM
I don't think you should internalize a controller,it's more work than it's worth and it just feels and looks like crap.
Instead you should internalize a multitap so you can play ts2 with your mates in the car!
Why can't portable gaming still be social ^_^
