Title: some simple mods
Post by: UserX on December 06, 2008, 09:25:28 PM
Here is my psp
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60290.jpg&hash=f1bd1cfe5cbe5a48f8c89366a1bfd094240fbdc7) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60290.jpg)

I managed to get the nub in without removing the powerboard,
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60301.jpg&hash=21bb3544323409b8db2c09aab77470d7858d88d1) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60301.jpg)

I relocated the power jack to the left side under the analog stick
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60293.jpg&hash=9ebb1a487edc491b64ae155bd964b0fd42f1879e) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60293.jpg)

also added a external WiFi antenna from a netgear USB 802N adapter as you can see it swings up when i need access to the USB port
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60294.jpg&hash=809410d1a788ae8ad4ef0726d446f2b6a2ec72ed) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60294.jpg)
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60295.jpg&hash=557799eb91584b02fbdc0ecb3f666941a91ffb6f) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60295.jpg)

Here is a good shot of the wireing for the nub and antenna, I simply soldered the antenna to the post soldering small coax is a real pain and this works very well, just put a bit of electrical tape on the back of the display so it don't short out
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60300.jpg&hash=9dbaf0cbf35d8255706f5cb3ea6803fe61292132) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60300.jpg)

And here is the PSP all powered up
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi705.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww54%2FUser_X72%2Fth_STA60296.jpg&hash=536f5dc259d49b60fed2105a559f044c4ba50e95) (http://s705.photobucket.com/albums/ww54/User_X72/?action=view&current=STA60296.jpg)

Couple of questions.  Did you have to mod the analog itself to get it to fit under the faceplate or did removing the the charge jack give you the space you needed?  Two what holds the analog in place?

thanks

Didn't realy "modify" the nub just put the razor X board in it
It's held down the double sided tape.
and everything works didn't loose a single function with my mods.

Actualy these are simple. my next mod won't be. i plan to install a photofast with 32 gig's inside the PSP without removing the UMD drive or use of the Memory stick slot.
so yea these are simple when compaired to the next mod lol

a piece of advice if u wanna save space use the cr-5400 it might be a lil harder to wire up but if u need space its better

These are all quite complicated. There are no written tutorials for anything you have just done, and it takes some thinking. I would like to ask how you are going to install photofast with 32 gigs and not use the memory stick slot.

thats easy going to wire it directly to the Slot connection points and use a NC reed switch to cut off the photofast when i put a MS in the slot. also will have to do a bit of cutting on the body behind the UMD drive to free up space for the photofast. and yes i could use the new one that uses the mico sd but what would be the fun in that?

its saves space and u would have to do a lil less cutting

also wat pin would u cut of so that it switches cuz i would like to try that

I got a couple of questions for you.

How much of a signal improvement do you get with that antenna, and for the nub (probably been answered,) do you just use the old nub casing with the razor board?

depending on enviroment i get around 20 to 50% better reception and trasmition with the antenna.
and the nub is just the top half with a razor x on the bottom.
