ok fixin my friends hitachi drive got workin and everything so i decided that i might as well open up mine and clean my motor spindle. so i open it it un screw my spindle clean it and lubricate the lasers sliding bars. when i was all done i put back together i start up my xbox and wut do no it doesnt Read ANY type of disc i took it part again and watched my laser as it read my discs i kinda shifted around everywhere and it sped up then sped down again it was like it was having trouble getting enough power and when i look at the menu it just says reading then after awhile it jus says open tray
BTW i have a BenQ drive flashed with 1.4 ixtreme firmware PLZ HELP!!!!
*i know its not the laser LENS thingy because ive had this problem in the past just dont know how i fixed it

sounds like your disc isn't staying put where it should. There is a round black piece that mounts to the top of your DVD housing that holds the disc in place, that piece is usually the key to disc alignment issues. Take a look and make sure you didn't lose that piece, and in fact if it is in the correct spot.

its in the right place i didnt tamper with it i think its the laser cause it seems like its not reading any disc at all

the laser is a diode, it is a laser diode. I don't know what to tell you except that there must be an alignment issue or you damaged your laser diode somehow. Laser diodes are super static sensitive, so always good to take esd precuations when messing with you dvd drive.

OK....wierd i just took out my motor spindle again then put it back again as a last effort then i tried one last time before trying to fool M$ then it jus magically started to work again how i did it i dont know all i know is that i can play my xbox again and i wont mess around with my dvd nomore expect for iXtreme thx for all the help!!! :laughing:
