Title: Possible PC Build
Post by: RoBot1ks on December 23, 2008, 07:29:07 PM
Ok. I had another topic and it had failed miserably because of money trouble. I may not do this, but I would like to know what you dudes think of this set up

CASE: ($109)

Still deciding between these two

POWER: ($90)

CPU: ($165)

MOTHERBOARD: ($109)

DVD BURNER: ($25)

HARD DRIVE: ($65)

I followed THIS (http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/how_build_a_kickass_800_gaming_pc?page=0%1C1) but I changed some stuff a bit

If I decided to actually build it, (money is a HUGE factor) then I would need some advice.
I think the setup is good enough for a cheap gaming computer, but what do I know

Thanks,
RoBo

So you will be using the intel stock HSF? I would say get an aftermarket HSF, but if you wont be OCing that CPU then fine, but a Duo 2? Well, they are still a gamers choice, but to me Quads are more future proof :\. For 109 why not an Antec 900 from newegg? Never heard of NZXT, but if for looks then go ahead, you are better off waiting for someone else's opinion, oh and nice choice on the Visiontek, only ATI card with limited lifetime warranty if I remember correctly. Not a fan of ATI though :P.

I really like how that the antec 900 was commented. I shall go with that
I also have looked into a quad cpu

While money is VERY short right now, I may be able to buy parts on occasion. I may sell my mod-off psp to get some money

Good choice on the Q6600, in love with it at the very moment ^-^. Also, CORSAIR and the Antec PSU are fine choices as well. CORSAIR makes fine PSU's aswell, loving my 750TX, but it is around 109 I believe :\, but Antec PSUs are fine, use them for cheap builds for the family ^-^, have not had one fail. As for the Mobo, I really do not trust any brand other than ASUS or EVGA for motherboard :\, but that is just me.

Yea I was really wanting to go with a good, cheap asus board. I really do research before I make my decisions..User reviews..recalls
Thanks for all the help dude
I haven't done much computer work, only hard drive swaps and a lil trouble shooting with hardware.

I have a compaq evo desktop I might sell to get some money.
