To download is directly to the ps3, go over to the settings icon in the XMB and select the first icon which is something like "network update". Then select via internet and it's easy peasy from there on.
-
i tryed that i get a message that "a connection to the servers can not be made" and yes im connected to the internet

thanx alot

I would wait till the next update i updated my 60gig with no problem but then i tried it with my 80gig motostorm edition and it killed it at 67% so now everytime it starts up it tries to update it and locks up at 67%. Alot of people are having this problem with 20,40,60, and 80gig ps3's and sony
won't fix there mistake unless your willing to give them $150 if your out of warranty
-
mine updated perfectly fine I wonder what the difference is that causes others to freeze and lock up?
-
cos they mess around with the firmware not saying all do but sometimes when you change the hdd there are sometimes problems as sony stated some time back i know as i tryed lots of hdds just to get a good working one.
-
ohh what hdd did you use im gonna be replacing mine in a few days

haha that funny since i haven't herd of anybody release a firmware hack as of yet and mainly affects launch consoles but does corrupt some of the newer ones too

try going into the ps3's recovery menu
TO get to this menu try the following to see for yourself:
-Place your PS3 in STANDBY mode
-Hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps.
-If it goes into the video reset setting then you messed up, and do it again till you hear a double beep.
see if that helps - im pretty sure thats the right combination to get it to work
-
I think they removed that on the 2.53 I tryed 20 times and EVERY time I just got the video reset thing.
-
hmm im sure i accessed it by accident the other day - maybe its using a different combo
-
Here is the combo
1:turn system off
2:hold down power buttom untill it turns on and then turns off
3:hold down power button again until you hear a beep keep holding it untill you hear 2 beeps and the do what it tells you to do.

I've done that like a hundred times and once the firmware corupts the system it will only go so far before it locks up again. I tried putting 2.50 and 2.52 back on and it only went up to 69% before it locked up so i might just send it out to get fixed and not to sony cause i payed enough for it and there not going to rape me for another $150
-
all the repairs do is clean the ps3 and change the hdd beleave me i know someone who fixes them its not really worth paying money to someone that you can do it your self cheaper.

Cleaning and changing out the hdd does not fix the problem of a failed firmware update, once the problem happens there's on going back cause it corrupts the bios not even the recovery can fix it. you would have to reflash the bios and the only one i seen so far that can do that is the infectus chip

ok dont beleave me
