Check if there is dust on the lens

If not, borrow a laser from another ps2 and see if it works (if it does order a new laser, DX have one for about $10)

if it still doesnt work, id say just buy a new dvd drive for it from ebay or somewhere

im pretty sure that either your laser is out of position, from unknown movement, or your laser has gone and died.

i had that happen to one of my phat ps2's but i had the warranty still. some im not exactly sure of how to fix it, other than getting a new laser
