Title: Help, busted comp ^_^

Okay, so my dads comp got infected with Antispyware 2009 for some reason, now it wont work.

I tried:

Booting safe mode then system restore, but on the last "NEXT" button, it wont go when i pressed it.

Booting safe mode then trying to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but when i try to open the installer, it wont open.

i dont think system restore will get rid of virus so the only thing i would do is take the hard drive out and plug it in as a slave on another computer and getting all your documents and important stuff and then wiping that drive. then just install xp or vista (or whatever your had)oh yea before you wipe the infected hard-drive be sure you have a copy of xp or vista

 hope that can give you ideas.. and hope you fix your dads computer  :winker:

idc about the files, i have a DELL cd for XP, but it asks for a cd with SERVICE PACk 2, which i dont have.. idk wtf to do now lol it needs the "asms" file

how about buying a xp disk then if it ever goes wrong again you can just stick in disc and away it goes?

System restore gets rid of viruses...

Just pop in a cd of the same version (xp if you have xp, vista if you have vista)...
Boot into it...
Hit repair...

That will fix the asms problem..

Problem is that i dont have the discs :\

can i somehow download the files then burn them?

or just take you computer to you local computer repair shop and get them to deal with it
