Reaper, do you wear safety goggles while stripping wires?

I do  :#1:

If you have ever had solid core 15 AWG wire get in your eye, you would know.

But I am never solely stripping wires, so I am already wearing them.

Yeah good point. And getting hot plastic in your eye sucks too, like feedback from dremeling plastic. Oh god, that hurts.

I think they make magnifying safety goggles... not sure where though. Sorry.

I only use safety glasses when using power equipment like saws and grinders. I will sometimes if I'm hitting metal or somthing dangerous that could break. I allways wear them when I weld cause that is like the worst place to not wear safety glasses. So basically if you think you need em wear em but if something happens when your not wearing em then its hour fault...

O_O Magnifying safety goggles? I wonder if I can get prescription goggles. I think they make those for sports so maybe I could use them as safety goggles too.

Meh, just do it all with a set of helping hands. You can see it better  plus nothuing can fly into your face.

Skull is a modder of all, saying that he works with cars.

And yea i recommend wearing goggles while working with any power tool. If you get that crap in your eye you wont be happy.

A pair of wire strippers is hardly a power tool.

Wire strippers hurt eyes?

Ha

Ever had those thin breakable dremel disks explode/smash and end up in your eye at 25000 RPM?

Ever had solder go in your eye?

Ever had a dremel go 1cm into your arm from an etching bit?

It hurts, trust me I know

I stabbed myself real deep with a scalpel whilst doing a dissection, I also sanded down to the bone on one of my fingers with a disc sander (one of the powerful bench-mount ones).

Logic would suggest that I should wear gloves.

Gee, I'm 15 and use power tools all the time. I've never even screwed up that much. Ouch.

power tools rawk

though the cookers at McDonald's are probably more likely to hurt me over them xD

300 degree metal plates anyone? vats of 200 degree fat? heck i got pickle vinegar in my eye and that hurt :P

worst thing ive done with tools is grab wrong end of the iron.

also phen how on earth did you get solde in your eye??

last time i checked no mod involved lifting an iron above your head D:

Vinegar in the eye would hurt!

At a party a got Tabasco in my eyes: that really hurt. On a trip to the Tate Museum I went to the toilet and came back to see someone had prepared a line of sugar for me. Needless to say, caught up in the moment, I snorted it (bloody long it was too). It soon became apparent they had hidden pepper underneath it. I think the guard saw me rolling in agony. (*^^*)

I've burned myself on soldering irons and PICs a few times too.

Gee, I'm 15 and use power tools all the time. I've never even screwed up that much. Ouch.

Well, when I was 10 I was using the disc sander when my hand slipped off the wood and sanded it real quick. Only a few seconds and bone was visible.

The heart dissection was weird! I was poking my finger down the superior vena cava I think when it ran straight into the scalpel that was stuck in their. It was so sharp it didn't hurt though.

By age 13 I was welding, using cutting torches, using circular saws etc. with master skillz

I've flicked solder onto my face, so I'd assume if you had good aim you could get it in your eye. Come to think of it, I SHOULD get some goggles. I have some badminton goggles, I suppose those won't be too bad.

Lol, the worast I've had is when the other day I was attemptiing to solder an 0603 LED and one of my fingers hit the screw on my soldering iron. All I got was a bloody painful finger and a blister.

To be honest, any injury involving the word dremel isn't an injury (Apart from hot plastic).

I've never really hurt myself on power tools, and I use / have a lot.

I have a bench mount disc sander : ) They are evil if you are sanding something small and thin..  :cry2:

one time the LED was REALLY hot, like a red one at 3 volts, gets hot as hell, melting hot glue
