heres my laptop where i do all my research and sometimes if im copying a tut i use the spare space!
-
Sweet. That reminds me - I should go find my hot glue gun... And probably rearrange some wires
-
Workshop (garage  )
No heating, Medium amount of lighting, lots of areas for drafts to get in, what a joy!
-
Ill post mine soon
Once my:
Order of about £300 worth of electronic components arrive (1000's of transistors, prototyping hardware, speakers, 100000's of resistors etc)
Oscilloscope (I got it for christmas, but it was out of stock, or pre order only, and should be coming soon)
New Desk (My old desk caught fire, so Im temperaily using the top of a cupboard, totally unworkable, cant even sit straight)
All arrive
(Do you think its worth me getting a heat gun?)

What do you do with all of the unnecessary components? Hoard them?

I'll post mine in a minute. I am using my kitchen table :P

I do much more than modding you know?
Im into a lot of PIC Programming
Every single day I do about an hour of electronics on my desk? Well not atm since I dont even have my proper desk >:( Stupid hotglue being very very reactive to fire
Currently, well not atm but when I get my stuff, I will try to devolop using a PIC chip to get the sound reactive mod much more reactive, or something else... But I did order some speakers that fit perfectly behind the silver ring on the PSP
Just so you know when doing electronics I only am modding about 1/10 of the time, nearly the rest is repairing things like phones and what not...
And sometimes I just love to blow up broken components, like some damaged backlight I had, i set the voltage to about 20 instead of the 3v it needs, instant pop and the bottom of the LCD melted
Ever put a 100v Cap the wrong way round on purpose :D
I only brake dirt cheap stuff, from Rapid you can get Caps about 1p each
and a box of 2500 resistors for about £5
Oh yeah I ordered new helping hands
My older maplins ones which costed me £20?!?!? at the time, and ill tell you something, they suck bad, the croc clips hanging onto the main bar, the slot for them to go into has broken so now it only has one holder, and it doesnt have adjustable side holder things (hard to explain)
Whereas Rapid have a MUCH better one for about a fiver
Then theres that gas mask I need, since I do a lot of painting with aerosols
Goggles (Which arrived last week though), to protect me from the shards when a dremel disk brakes (those really thin cutting ones, got one in my eye once, it was bloodshot for about a week, but I was tough, I only cried for 15 minutes!!!! Nah joking I fell on the floor with pain...)
The Oscilloscope, my dad will teach me how to use that, I can get the best out of amplication then :D
BTW, does anybody know how much current 30AWG can handle?
-
Look at the wiring standards (google) for the wire current limits.
It is good that you are into electronics.
What language do you code in? (PIC's)
I do mine in ASM now (thanks chad), I used to do it in BASIC, and JAL (VEEEERY LIMITED!!)
I don't think that you could ever make a PIC amplify better than a dedicated audio amp.
However you can make cool addons, I wrote some code for a simple vu meter using the adc.
Rapid online are good, but nothing compared to farnell.
-
Ilove the fact I never get a reply when I ask him what language he does PIC work in. :boxed:
-
Was he online?
Anyway, I'm off to go and set up my soldering shizz and take snappaty snap snaps :P
-
man I wish that I had a dedicated space to work in. I guess I dont do alot of physical modding. I do alot of coding and stuff on the computer. Any mods I have done like rapid fire 360 controller and stuff like that I just do on my computer desk. I am taking an old hp case and modding it a bunch and maybe build a whole new computer out of it maybe. If I can ever get a new job.

Yeah, the reason I'm not using my GO!Cam Is because it's not working properly.

Sorry for not answering lol, I aint 100% sure, I got into PIC programming recently, very recently infact, I just use MPLAB IDE and my dad just teaches me the basics, but once im done with my PSP and got my workstation up and running Ill start learning about it more :D
Hmm, that sucks about the audio amp, I might even look into the datasheets of some amps, and using a bit of maths see which ones are more responsive, or with a transistor
But there was something I wanted to do with a PIC in my PSP
Oh yeah, If I was putting PICs in my PSP, it would have to be the SMD type one right? So it fits? Also I would have to solder directly to the contacts, which I heard can destroy the PIC very easily

i've taken the liberty to poorly label everything.. but i worked there when i revived my psp, or work on my warhammer army, or was swapping drives in laptops
i like my workspace, save for the broken lamp..
-
That is an amazingly huge, low res picture lmao. I think I should get a bigger desk... Not enough room to put stuff, and i wanna get a computer soon.

You could always make a quick PCB and solder to that. And i dont think it would destroy it..
If you didn't mind having no UMD Drive you could always put it there.

Last thing I did. Got the idea from someone who posted some ideas for modding.

That last pic is awesome. Did you just use an exacto knife?
-
It would take a couple days to cut that with an exacto knife lol
Proly a dremel..
-
Yep it was a dremel.
Filled in the area with plastic model glue.

Cool, that sounds like asm. (As long as you aren't using a C compiler ;) )
You can solder the legs of smd type chips fine, that is how they get on circuit boards in the first place, however I recommend a clip on heat sink and low temp iron - I set mine to 300,

Could be ASM, if I knew what it was lol, very new to it
The smd thing, i actually ordered a 6 peice soldering help set for a few quid (it was on sale so I thought, what the heck?), and it includes a heatsink clip thing
And my soldering station, its a weller, and its got a variable temperature but its controlled by the tip, i have a really REALLY fine tip on mine, its actually quite sharp, and its about 320 degrees celcius

I wanna see pics of Alien's work station... I bet you it's expensive O_O
