I recently have almost completed my first case swap, but when I but my psp together and tried to turn on the psp only the sound came on the screen does not. Is there something wrong with the screen or can there be a loose connection somewhere. I kept my screen in a safe place on top of the face plate and in a plastic bag. the connectors are also fine. I need help.
-
The connectors are fine, or the connections? Because if it just LOOKS okay, it doesn't mean it's fitted properly. Perhaps if you have a spare psp, test the screen in your working psp and see if it works.
-
The connections are good and as far as they go in, Ill try my brothers psp screen in my psp, but I think the backlight is broken because it was lit for a bit and then stopped working but the screen was still black.
-
Try shining a flashlight on your screen to see if there's anything there.

Take a peice of kynar touch the two ends of the backlight fuse. If it lights up solder it there means you blew the fuse :victory:
pic of fuse-

It should have a FD on it :winker:

I am 100% sure that your fuse is busted
**Pic removed**
lol Jumbo you beat me to it

I think what happen is the connector for the backlight was not completly down but too bad I just broke the black thing that you put down to hold the backlight into place. I also tried to slide that backlight ribbon into the slot but it wont go in. Can I elctrical tape the back light down? Also when I put a flash light up to the screen it had all of these parallel lines that went across the screen but no ordinary psp screen properties. Luckly my brothers psp has something wrong with the power board so I can use his motherboad and his lcd which still work.
-
I got the backlight in the slot but still no luck I guess you guys are right about the fuse. Ill see if I can put up some pics, I was looking forward to having a full chrome psp.
-
Your screen is probably dead. You can tape it down with electrical tape, or if you don't plan on taking it apart ever again, hot glue works too. Did you test your brother's screen in your psp yet?
-
I didnt test it yet. I need his permission, but I will post once I do.
-
I tried my brothers psp screen and no luck
-
Its backlight fuse :/

I kind of doubt that a fuse is broken because I have no leds or extras on my psp. And the screen did not turn on right when I plugged it in and turned on my psp. I think the problem may lie with some of the connections on the motherboad. I will try and reconnect everything. My instinct says its something with the powerboard. And can the umd connections effect how the power supple is regulated? And My psp had accumulated a bit of dust so maybe i just need to get some of the dust out.
