Title: LCD Foam.
Post by: alentris on January 28, 2009, 04:40:04 PM
Just a question here, when buying an lcd, Is there a huge difference in having the foam or not? Because the one from DX without the foam is loads cheaper than any on ebay.

I beleive it keeps out the biggest part of dust and particles.
Maybe you will not have any problems if you purchase the screen from dx

the screens are really nice from dx and they ship them really nice. also the foam is not that inportant as long as you make sure that you get all the dirt out bafore you put the faceplate on. can of air works the best.

Just switch the foam part from a cracked lcd to your new lcd. Thats what I do when I get LCDs from DX.

I've never had a problem with the screens from DX so I wouldn't worry. Plus all the reviews are good.

They are always good they, just try to get DX points for their POS prizes...

Just buy it, the foam makes no difference if you ask me with dust. Dust gets in EVERYWHERE! Foam or no foam, stupid dust

I know, but what I found keeps the dust out is if you add a piece of electrical tape perpendicular to the screen on all sides. It provides a nice black backdrop (if you don't have a dual injection faceplate), and keeps out dust.

Hmm..Not a bad idea
I was thinking a few layers of masking tape, but it's white.

that would look like  :censored: if you used masking tape. but I didn't crack my lcd, a bunch of black lines appeared horizontal across the screen. It really made me pissed off, and I still have no Idea why. I'm actually scared to install a new one, because it might do it to the new one...

So you think it's the psp that's doing it? If so then I don't think it would break your screen. Tbh I think you just need a new screen. I mite be wrong though.

The thing what you said about the horizantal lines is happened to my grandpas plasma. What was wrong with the tv was a bad connectionsoo maybe you plug the LCD in wrong.

Ok, while opened, turn on the psp and push down on the lcd connector (gently) and see if the screen changes any.
Make sure you are grounded(?)

I actually can't take apart my psp now  :faint: my mom sucked up my #000 screwdriver in the vacuum and then chucked it away in the bag. :cry2: So now I need to get to sears to buy a new one... But I'll be sure to try that. Because actually, while taking it apart my first time (while still a noob), I was putting it back together and by accident pushed the smaller cable connecter black tab the wrong way, and it broke off. Right now a piece of electrical tape is holding the ribbon cable in place.

I think that the screwdriver deserves a moment of silence.

...

But anyways, I'll try and coax my older brother into driving me to the mall this weekend, then I can get down to business. (If i can stop playing COD 5)

Lol, never heard that one before.

It COULD be dead pixels in the screen from dropping and sorts. But iono..

Cod5 is quite addicting i agree.

I don't think that they're dead, because when I use a game that doesn't use the pixels (i.e. UO Gpsp kai) they turn white. I'll try and make a vid tomorrow, actually. But It hasn't been dropped since 2006, so I doubt that it is from dropping...

You need to get a new screw driver before you can really fix anything at this point. So we'll start there lol.
