SWEET! Did you just run wires into there with a couple 3mm leds, or did you actually attach them to something?
-
I used six 1206 smd blue and red leds per controller in order to light the inside. For the wiring, I used kynar 30 gauge wire and two 10 ohm resistors.
-
Cool. So are they sorta just sitting there, or did you glue them onto the actual controller with hot glue or something?
-
I used a hot glue gun to nicely glue and position the leds to the controller case. Four leds are position inside the empty area were normally the rumble motors would be positioned. The fifth led is position underneath the circuitry board near the usb charge connector and the sixth led is the one that illuminates the Playstation logo button.
-
they look awsome, i wish Sony would have stuck with the transparent controllers for dualshock :sadno:
-
I know this could be a pain but it can still be done. Take the guts out of a dual shock controller and put it inside a sixaxis transparent case. Then, put a few leds inside and your done. Both cases are the same inside and out so this should work.
-
I think Sony's starting to dislike us modding their controllers... Originally the ps buttons were really easy to add leds to, but through the revisions it got harder and harder. Then, they changed the slightly transparent sixaxis controllers to solid dualshock controllers...
-
hmm....never thought bout that before......your right!
-
Great mod! Blue and red controllers look so good together.
Sony's been trying to make it harder for us for years. All of those firmware updates, and losing the battles with
Dark_AleX. Shame really. They should be encouraging people to mod their consoles to show how good PSPs can be, instead of having just some tacky little ptf themes and a background to call it our own. Consumer choice owns! :drunk:
-
Very nice I must say.
-
@pspupgrade: Yeah well sure they've been trying to make it harder for us to softmod our psps, but that's only because they don't want us to play pirated software. AcidMods started as a thread on the official PlayStation forums, and they thread was never deleted, meaning Sony gave it the OK. And I mean, they haven't used security screws, on but the slim and phat psps there is lots of room to put things in. If you ask me, I think they're neither promoting nor discouraging modding to their psps.
-
Actually, this is such a good idea that I think I might try it
-
What do you mean about trying it? Are you talking about taking the guts out of a dual shock controller and put it inside a sixaxis transparent case? If yes, Make sure to post some pics. I'm sure they would look sick...
-
No actually I meant I'm gonna try what you did with the leds in the handle :P But if I ever get my hands on a DS3 I'll probably try that, too.
-
Try it out. It wasn't that hard to do. The only pain in the butt part to handle is the little plastic spacer between the trigger buttons and shoulder buttons.
-
Yeah, i've done a couple led swaps, and fitting the triggers took almost as long as the actual mods XD
-
0oo0 nicee i did some of these to. but you could only do them on the old six axis controllers since they have the see through case.
