Title: Power/Charge Led....
Post by: Ben. on February 14, 2009, 10:00:48 AM
Right I Was Examing My Psp Today, and Realised The Power and Charge Led Is a 'Bi-Colour' Led Meaning It Is Just a Single Led for Both Which Depends On The Voltage and Stuff...

But Anyways, Where Could I Buy One Of These Led's As I Thought It Would Be Good To Have A Blue And Red One...

Thanks

If you take off that top part carefully, underneath you should find two LEDs; top one green and bottom one orange. You could just replace them both with 0603s.

For reference check this:

Oh Right... Thanks.. I Didnt Go Any Further When I Took It Apart... Also When I Was Replacing My Front Faceplate, There Is Like This Clear Plastic Which Goes From The Led To The Faceplate.. And Makes The Led Seem Brighter.. And Since When Replacing My Faceplate.. It Broke And I Lost It.. My Led Is Really.. Really.. Dim... Anyone Know What Im On About..?

Yes, I know that thing you're talking about. You could try a tiny, tiny spot of hot glue. That might have a positive effect.

Yer Sounds Like A Plan... Would Replacing It With A Ultra Bright Blue Be A Good Plan Aswell...?

Yes. Just bridge that resistor and wire up the power LED. Should make it a considerable amount brighter.

Hmmm, well is there a way for a LED to change color when it charges, because I want to place a few LEDs around my PSP that change colors when it charges, sort of like the original lights in the right side of the psp, and is it possible to make it sound reactive?

Should be possible. Take a look at this diagram from llamma:
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.llamma.com%2FPSP%2Fimages%2Fmods%2Ftriggers%2Fpsp_le2.jpg&hash=470d32f5bc2ab4696505e49886ef25969ee80f55)
Can you see where it says "use for orange"? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you hooked up the negatives of the LEDs to that point, then they would only get to ground and light up if the charge light LED is on. That would be pretty good.

Also, about the sound reactive part, you probably couldn't have sound reactive charge LEDs; partly because it would be pretty pointless, and secondly
because for them to be sound reactive, the positive and negative points would need to be hooked up to the LED, either with a transistor or direct contact.
But since the LEDs will only be charge activated if they have that certain orange ground point, they cannot also be hooked to the speaker
negative, or it would not be sound reactive.
Still, it might be possible with an LM386, but that would be more complicated.  :victory:

Yes, it did that to me earlier, but it worked when I right clicked and selected "show picture".

Anyway, the picture is at http://www.llamma.com/PSP/images/mods/triggers/psp_le2.jpg (http://www.llamma.com/PSP/images/mods/triggers/psp_le2.jpg)
