Title: Speaker upgrade in a PSP....Possible?
Post by: Deepsubboy on March 11, 2009, 09:54:19 AM
hello guys, i am chris, i am new to acid mods, found it on google. but to be quick, and get to my point, as the bell in my studyhall is gonna ring; would it be terribly difficult to remove the UMD drive, and replace it with a 2" or 2.5" slim speaker? to me, this seems doable, but i have no experience taking apart the psp. my main concern, is that i will have to cut the case for the magnet of the speaker. i want to case to remain intact. if anyone knows how i might accomplish this what microspeakers i could use, in addition to where on the board the speaker outs are, just lemme know! thanks...

This mod has been done like one zillion times, requires removale of the UMD drive, a dremmel or holesaw to cut the hole, a speaker and some glue (and a soldering iron)... A tutorial for psp disasembly can be found in the psp phat tutorial section.

Happy Modding :D

The process will be slightly different since you're on a Slim, but that's just wiring to speakers etc. Find it at: https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=28447.0 (https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=28447.0)

This is why the search bar saves time in many ways  :yess:
