hey,

      ive got a desktop pc that needs a few bits.. but i havent a clue whats what.
 my dad said it needs these things..

  It is a socket 775.

It needs..


2.93 pentium 4 processor
sata hdd
ddr ram
dvd writer..

if you could help me out that would be great.. and yeah im in U.K so U.K sites would be better :)

well is that the minumum specs or is that what you want.... Because You can get parts a gazilion times better than those. Lol

Well one of the first things we need to know is what it will be used for. Is it for gaming or general use?

yeah dude its an old computer.. but i can run leopard..

what exactly kind of pc is and what kind of mobo is running it so i can run some specs and tell what the highest cpu you can get. Is that all you need is a cpu or you need ram as well.

i have no idea on mobo specs.. thats why im asking here.. i could post a few pics, if that would help.

 and yeah i need it to run leopard.. and i know it runs on a 2.93 p4 processor as my dad had it running .. but he stole that parts out of from me :(

well there should be large numbers and letter in white supposedly  that is used to search a certain brand

why don't you go to osx86.com you'll get all the documentiation that you need to get leopard running :)

well actually you should consider overhauling his entire pc, though i'm no one to say this . My pc has a 1.8 ghz P4 n 512mb of sd ram lol ! Oh yeah and integrated graphics :) lol

i know its pathetic but its all i can afford or so right now. Actually its all i need. Torrents and video conversions work well. I'm not too interested in pc gaming actually, counter strike and rts games work well. More into console gaming :)

oh gigabyte motherboards work very well for leopard. According to the osx86 site, you can use any processor or  graphics card coz its the motherboard which is the most important

oh k. I guess any core 2 duo processor around 2.6 ghz maybe should be sufficient . 2/4 gb of ram

but would it work with my motherboard ... could you post a link to one as there is too many to choose from.. (and ill probably be looking at the wrong one... btw im not lazy im just not very clever about computer parts lol )
