I just bought a PSP slim locally.
Everything is working (wifi, umd, buttons, etc.)
The only thing wrong is that no sound is coming from the speakers. If I plug in headphones, I can hear the game.
The psp looked like it was opened before but no signs of modding (solder splashes, solder joints, etc). No broken traces, lifted traces, etc.
I installed OFW and CFW to see if that helped, but same thing.
I didn't swap speakers, but I did hook up an LED to the right speaker to see if that would light up. It didn't.
Could it be something in the mobo?
I'm wondering if I can tap the speakers into the headphone jack. Would this be possible?
I would also like to light up the triggers, but that will depend on me getting the speakers working first.
Thanks for your help!!!

I don't know, but I think it needs a new mobo, if a LED lit up when connected then I would say it would just need new speakers but it sounds like there is no voltage going to the speaker contacts, maybe you can bridge some resistor but not sure which one.

Ok first you need to try bridging the sound fuse(search it) im 90% sure that will do it becuase you have every sign that you need to bridge it

hmm i had this issue before and once i connected my remote they started working very weird.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try to do just that.
However, I have tried to google and search within the forums. The only fuse tuts for the slim I have found are the USB, backlight, power, etc. Nothin on the sound fuse.
I did find a sound fuse tut in these forums, but that was for the phat.
Could somebody point me to the link or pic stating where the sound fuse is on the slim mobo?
Thanks again!

Hmm if you couldn't find it on AM here in search that might be a problem.. if you have a multi-meter and some time and patience you can probably find it yourself. It will just be time consuming. I will help you look too bro let you know tomorrow what I find if I can find anything.
Worst case scenario is you have to buy a new Motherboard but I hope for you that it doesn't have to come to that.

Please believe me when I say I searched. I must have gone through the tut section and searched at least 8 times. I even went through the threads in the tuts, but must have been absent-minded :)
Many thanks to Arioch_76 for taking the time and sending me the image of the sound fuse.
Thanks so much!!!
For future reference for others who might be wondering the same thing, here is the image from Arioch_76

Update: Bridged the sound fuse and all is well. Sound is finally going to the speakers. Sound is a bit low though, but I suspect it's the speakers.
Just finished putting in 3mm leds in the triggers for the sound reactive mod.
Now not sure if I wanna keep this as a backup/all purpose use or put it in craigslist for sale :)
Update2:
Beginning to notice some crackling sounds from the speakers. Volume continues to be bit low compared to other slims I have.
Will be replacing the speakers soon.
Decided to keep it and keep it as an experiment. Planning to go all out on this one (transluscent case, razor x, leds around the umd ring).
will order soon, but not sure if I'll be able to work on it to finish soon.
Will definitely put up a pic or vid when it's done.
Thanks again for the help!!
