I'm confused on this subject Ive seen videos of peoples sound reactive led's only coming on when the speakers are in use, also Ive seen them on all the time and pulsate when the speakers are in use I would prefer to have my led's on all the time and pulsate in the presence of music please help me out this is my first time extremely modding my psp I just don't want to screw it up please help

hmm, Im not an expert on psp sound reactive mods, but it sounds like if you were using a 2n2222 NPN Transistor for the mod, a PNP transistor will give you the opposited effect....... A 2N3906 may work up to 200mA or a 2n4403 up to 600mA.
I am not sure if it will work in as a pin for pin replacement of the NPN, so you may need to swap you emmitter and collector pins as well.
If you are using the LM386 amplifier for this mod, I would have to look at that circuit in order to tell you what you need to do, but it may be as simple as swapping the positive and negative speaker leads on the input of the circuit.
This is the Electronix section, since it is electronix related and can be used on just about any system, i decided to keep it in here where I can help you through it. On the other hand if you post this question in a PSP section, you may find someone that has done it already and get a quicker easier response than "you can try this" answers that I am giving you.

ok um this being my first mod and not fully understanding the PNP NPN part it would really be helpful if you could tell me a tutorial to follow or video
-
I would hope that if there was a tutorial for it you would have looked there before asking here. Like I said in my previous post, I havnt done this or any psp mods so I am just assisting you with the electronix.
If all you want it a tutorial, I suggest going to the PSP slim section and making a post that asks if anyone has done an "Inverted Sound Reactive Mod" where the LEDs are on all the time and dim with the music instead of the traditional method.

I have looked else where but not found anything, but I will look again but I believe theres been a confusion, I'm hopping to have led's on when I turn on my psp and then brighten when the speakers are used not dim

whats the voltage of the speakers?
-
this is a quick post so havent read all post but is there some way to do it with diodes the normal kink not leds
-
if you have a 1000 they'll be one all the time
but if you have a 2000 you need a resistor (from what I've heard) to have them dim most of the time then brighten when sound plays
or you can just do solid and they will be one all the time but not dim or brighten when sound plays
I saw on youtube some psps who had the leds off when the speakers didn't make any noise...what resistor do I need to make those leds turn off like that...and light up when the music plays...???
